4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product
I recently purchased one of these at a local "big box" membership store. It had a package sticker claiming 1024x768 resolution.

PROS:
*Plays images directly from any of the standard image storage chips, so you don't need to load them to internal menus
*Resolution and color are OUTSTANDING
slide show is simple to set up and customize

3.0 out of 5 stars Room for improvement
I purchased the 10.4 inch digital frame from Pandigital just slightly over a month ago and so far the experience has been decent but not great. Providing two frames is a good idea (basic black just does not cut it for my usage). There are a number of control buttons located on the top of the unit. This is fine if you have it sitting on a desk or table, but mounting it on...

This review is from: Pandigital 10.4-Inch Digital Picture Frame w/2 Interchangeable Frames & 256MB Memory Card (Electronics)

*The frames are attractive and easy to change
the stand angle is adjustable
*It offers several scaling options including showing full frame and scaling to fit the frame.

CONS:
* at the higher end of pricing
* slide advance only has 3 speeds, and the slowest is still a bit fast at 10 seconds a photo
* the transitions are limited and "fade" is too rough. The standard of just "clicking" to the next image is fine, but it would be nice if it would do a smooth fade across to the new image.
* The menus take a little getting used to, but are simple once you've used it for 5 minutes.
* The buttons on the unit differ from what's shown in the documentation.

UNKNOWNS
I've only had it for a week, so I can't comment on durability.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is the future of photo frames. It will cost less next year, but if you want a large frame with great resolution and color saturation, this is worth the money. You may wish to shop - including the online sites from the bigbox membership stores - I found these frames vary greatly in price.

I purchased the 10.4 inch digital frame from Pandigital just slightly over a month ago and so far the experience has been decent but not great. Providing two frames is a good idea (basic black just does not cut it for my usage). There are a number of control buttons located on the top of the unit. This is fine if you have it sitting on a desk or table, but mounting it on a wall puts the buttons out of view and makes it difficult to do anything unless you take it off the wall. Fortunatly the included remote makes things much better however theres no on,off control from the remote so you still have to fish around the wall mount if you want to shut it off.
Picture quality is fair to excellent when viewed straight on. Some photos can look stunning when viewed on a digital frame. There is one drawback which manufactures need to address. When viewing the image off center the quality diminishes quickly. I have a Rosewill LCD monitor for my computer and the viewing angle is excellent. At a 8 foot viewing distance the Pandigitals picture starts to darken at aprox. 30 degrees off center and gets progressivly worse the farther you go. Considering how much better LCD computer monitors are to what they once were, this is a disappointing trip back to the past.

All in all the product is good but could really benifit from better design and improved displays. After all, the whole point of this product is to view your pictures. I would consider display quality the most important aspect when purchasing a digital frame.

In short (including a few things not mentioned previously).

PROS*
Large bright display
Two frames included
Remote control
256 Meg. internal memory
Accepts a number of memory cards
USB connection for your computer

CONS*
Off center viewing is poor
Control buttons on the frame are difficult to use when wall mounted
Remote has no on, off control
Some transition effects appear choppy

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware!, May 12, 2008
This review is from: Pandigital 10.4-Inch Digital Picture Frame w/2 Interchangeable Frames & 256MB Memory Card (Electronics)
I received the 10.4 frame as a a gift. The automatic on/off did not work & after many calls to tech support I was asked to send it to them. It was found to be defective (I had to call them at least 3 times to get this info)so I was told they would send me a new one. It took almost 3 months and half a dozen calls to get this accomplished. The new one came in a huge box with no packing at all. The automatic on/off does not work on the it either. When I called I was told that the warranty was no longer in effect--even though it was a new frame, the warranty only applied to the original one. I could not get a manager to speak to me. After spending $35 to sent the original back & my daughter's $200 for a defective frame, plus absolutely no customer service--I would not recommend any Pandigital product.

1.0 out of 5 stars slow machine, December 20, 2008
This review is from: Pandigital 10.4-Inch Digital Picture Frame w/2 Interchangeable Frames & 256MB Memory Card (Electronics)
I purchased this as a gift for my parents for Christmas. I am returning it tomorrow and hoping I can grab something else for them.
First: I am shocked that the only way I can upload photos is either BlueTooth or via a memory card. I can't hook it up to my computer and just upload pictures with a USB cord.
Second: It keeps freezing on me. I have 61 pages of photos to scroll through on my memory card. But I can't seem to go more than 8 - 10 pages without it freezing.
Third: I finally did get a few photos uploaded, and went to view the slide show, and it corrupted one of them.
I would not recommend this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this frame, November 6, 2008

I absolutely love this frame. Got it as a gift and was surprised that it had a 1024x768 resolution. So much nicer than my smaller frames. I noticed that some people are complaining about the interface, but I rarely use the interface. Just plug in an SD card with my favorite Flickr photos downloaded and let it slideshow continuously. I have a lot of tech friends and every single party we have, someone notices it and is surprised by the quality of photos.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit disappointed, December 11, 2007
This review is from: Pandigital 10.4-Inch Digital Picture Frame w/2 Interchangeable Frames & 256MB Memory Card (Electronics)
I bought two of these frames for 2 sets of parents. I was surprised at the button response on the unit--it was lousy (the remote works better for controlling menus). I think the biggest disappointment is that this is a product to display photos and smack in the left quadrant of the display is a digital clock stamp. Why? and why can't it be turned off? When I looked at the box for this product, the promotional photo frames display no clock--If I had known that the clock was there and could not be turned off I would have bought something else. Maybe this is picky, but remember getting snapshots with a date stamp on them? cheesy! I expected more of a $200 product.

3.0 out of 5 stars a little disappointed, December 8, 2009

This review is from: Pandigital 10.4-Inch Digital Picture Frame w/2 Interchangeable Frames & 256MB Memory Card (Electronics)
Picture quality seems great, I found the remote not very responsive however. I bought 3 of these and none seem to respond well (you need to push the buttom multiple times to get it to respond). This is really annoying when sorting/selecting thru hundreds of pictures. Also disappointed that you can't select the order of the pictures. They didn't load according how they were taken on my memory card, for some reason all of the pics loaded randomly on the page so it's a HUGE amount of time consuming work to seperate these all into folders which so far appears to be my only option for some order to them.
