cool once you configure it,
This review is from: Pandigital PANTV1512 15.6-Inch Kitchen Technology Center Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
My in laws got one and had NO idea how to use it. They used as a TV only until I came over. lol
Adding recipes isnt very tech friendly. You must type your recipes in mspaint or another photo editing program and save them as jpgs. you can then add them to the bon-apetite folder on the actual unit by hooking up usb cable to laptop\desktop. your computer will see a bunch of removable drives. You then find the recipe folders. transfer the jpgs to the bonapetite folder, then you can move them to their correct folder as favorites (soups, entrees, etc). You have to name them in the correct way too. they start from 001 to 100. When you add the jpg you must name it in the right # sequence. This is the only way i could get it to work. You can also do screenshots of [...]or other cooking websites, save as jpeg and then transfer them. You will also need external speakers because the sound sucks. The wireless is just to stream picasa pictures.. thats it. You have to install a yahoo widget to access the ubnit to transfer pics directly to it. Better off to do everything via usb. The manual was garbage. I am a very experienced techie and it took me a couple hours to setup all the features. very cool idea, but i dont think they got it right the first time. Ill probably still buy one... but the average computer user wont be able to use all the features without help imo [...]

Do not buy,
By
This review is from: Pandigital PANTV1512 15.6-Inch Kitchen Technology Center Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
Do not buy this product. It does not do what it advertises. I purchased it for my wife for Christmas.
The recipe feature only has a few recipes from Bon Appetit, not the entire collection as I was led to believe. It is a touch Frame, not a Touchscreen. The touch frame worked for about 2 weeks. The remote control barely worked when new, now it is non working. The mount is poorly made. It seems sturdy, but it's adjustments to create friction to hold the screen in place simply don't work, no matter how hard you tighten them. The mounting screws are total junk, the heads strip right off of them. I have to lean my set against my backsplash, or it pivots forward on the mount. The picture quality is terrible, and the set does not have enough volume to hear it if anything else is going on in the room, even at max level. Worst of all, I emailed the company to complain, and they don't even return the emails. A definite mistake to buy. I can't believe they're actually advertising this product as being so great. IT IS JUNK!

I have watched for this item to become available for a long time, and was terribly disappointed. Very poor picture quality, poor volume control, one cannot enter recipes, only upload a link...

Don't buy this product. It is not at all what it claims to be.The advertised how to videos are not included, customer support is rude. They are no help. Not a true touch screen. No way to add your own recipes as you are led to believe in the descriptions. I saved and saved for this product and have been very disappointed in it and the rude so called customer service.

Good thought...just doesn't work,
This review is from: Pandigital PANTV1512 15.6-Inch Kitchen Technology Center Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
This Kitchen Technology Center looks great, but doesn't work well. It's not user-friendly at all. The changeable faceplates are basically a sticker that you put on. It's not a touch-screen, more like a touch frame. Picture quailty is terrible. If they make a product like this that works, I would be interested. This one just doesn't have the quality or user-friendliness yet.
I bought 2. One for us and one as a Christmas present. After setting one up, I knew I wanted to return them. I was charged a 20% restocking fee plus shipping on each one. Even though it's tempting, I wouldn't buy this.

Internet Function has been discontined - do not buy!!,
This review is from: Pandigital PANTV1512 15.6-Inch Kitchen Technology Center Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
I was excited about this product until I found out that Microsoft is CANCELLING the Windows Live Frameit service TOMORROW (12/15/2010). Therefore, the Internet will NOT be available on this device. Here's what they said on [...]
"On December 15th FrameIt will shut down and the content you manage with the service will stop being delivered to your digital frame. Rest assured that none of the photos, videos, or other content FrameIt delivers to your digital frame will be deleted. The photos and videos you have on Windows Live Photos and Windows Live SkyDrive will still be available, but to view them with your frame, you might need to use another service. "For information on how to set up your digital frame with another service, review the instructions that came with your frame, or visit the manufacturer's website. Thanks, the FrameIt Team" Without the Microsoft FrameIT service, it's nothing more than a digital cookbook now. I suppose you could say that it's a digital cookbook with the capability to show your own pictures, but that's all it does. And actually, unless the digital cookbook videos and images are stored locally on the device, it's nothing more than a digital photo frame because without the FrameIt service, you won't be able to download the content. Based on all the other negative reviews, I would say please don't waste your money!

This product has alot of nice features, but most of the interesting ones do not work. Unless you are very tech savvey, do not buy this product.
The internet upload feature does not work! The USB port works pretty well, but is not flexible. You must use their pre-defined catagories. The TV feature is the only great feature that is usable. The photo frame feature is awkward to use and does not allow the user to define their own catagories.

Without Live FrameIT I find the product useless,
This review is from: Pandigital PANTV1512 15.6-Inch Kitchen Technology Center Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
As stated in another review. Windows Live FrameIt is gone, which makes this thing useless for me. $100 shot.
I bought mine on December 19 ... 4 days after Windows discontinued Live FrameIT! PANDIGITAL hadn't pulled the product from the Market and I did not know it?!! Their customer service does not answer the phone. STAY CLEAR OF PANDIGITAL!!!! They're pedaling a bad product at a deep discount .... unloading an inventory of a defective product (no Live FrameIT) along to an unknowing public.

Catastrophic waste of money - worst of the decade,
This review is from: Pandigital PANTV1512 15.6-Inch Kitchen Technology Center Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
The Pandigital Kitchen Technology Center is possibly the worst technology product of the decade. Despite repeated attempts, I could not find an advertised feature of this product that actually worked. Even the picture frame function was below expectations. The front panel touch controls worked some of the time, as did the remote, however neither provided positive control of direction or selection. The "bon appetit" menu was difficult to read, poorly indexed and was definitely inferior to using 3 X 5 cards, So much for kitchen technology. The unit did play music from a stilted music menu, but the speaker quality is about the same as a 5 dollar pocket radio. Unless you have an audio amplifier in your kitchen, the audio on this unit is basically worthless. Picture quality is supposed to be HIGH DEFINITION (720P), however the actual picture is about the worst HD rendering I have seen to date. The picture was badly pixilated, had awful color saturation and brightness controls, and a limited viewing angle. The HD Tuner refused to acquire terrestrial broadcast digital signals. Coaxial cable signals were detecteed but picture quality was low, with severe artifacts during action shots. The unit has no discernable internet capability. There is no direct LAN connection, and the wireless capability is menu limited to WEP encryption only. Unless you are willing to set your wireless router back to 1990's WEP standards, the wireless capability of this unit is basically zero. Even when connected to a wireless router via WEP, neither of the advertised features worked. There is no browser, and no way to enter URL addresses to access internet content. I went to the PANDIGITAL web site to try to find a firmware update, since this product is currently a bad joke, but guess what?.....there was a firmware update listed, but the link produced a "file not found" error. Imagine that. Maybe in China selling this kind of junk is OK, but in Western Markets, selling this product should be against the law. Having been dumb enough to actually purchase this thing, I am kicking myself over the decision to risk buying a PANDIGITAL product. Never again. It is clear that PANDIGITAL is incapable of accurate representation of product capabilities, and does not bother to adequately test their products before deploying to the purchasing public. I feel REALLY sorry for the people that paid the initial $400 + MSRP price for this junk. If the price falls to $25 or $30 dollars, it might suffice as a second rate digital picture frame or disposable TV monitor. This is my second PANDIGITAL purchase, and I should have learned my lesson the first time. Never again. DO NOT BE DUPED BY THE ADVERTISING CLAIMS. JUST RUN AWAY FROM ANYTHING MADE BY PANDIGITAL.
