A truly awesome collection of over 50 rarities, remixes, rehearsals and live cuts. Granted, quite a few of the tracks are the original album versions, and several more are simply remixes. There are also several live cuts that have never been released, mostly from music festivals or radio performances. Where this set really shines, though, is the rich material that had previously been unavailable in any form.
Cover songs illustrate the breadth of their inspiration, ranging from Floyd Jones' bluesy "On the Road Again" (no, not the country song) to a pair of Beatles covers: "Come Together", sometimes hailed as even better than the original, and the otherwise unavailable cover of "Helter Skelter". Meanwhile, a handful of rehearsal jams hints at their improvisational potential, and the instrumentals highlight "the rest" of Aerosmith, sometimes overwhelmed by Steven Tyler's wild, scream-accented vocals.
While other compilations have sold well on the strength of well-known, high charting hits, Pandora's Box gives a better picture of the band's versatility. Yes, their hits are what have made them stars, but this box set is a much richer blend, including some hits, but revealing the breadth of Aerosmith's repertoire, and the depth of their musical skill.
Most importantly, though, "Pandora" is loaded with just plain rockin' fun!

Aerosmith, can we ever get enough of the same recycled material over and over with some added things? It is definitely worth buying as there are quite a few surprises.
This is one of the greatest bands America has given us and if you are or are not a fan you will not be let down.

This box tells the story of the early years of the band, with a bunch of rarities and the singles.
The book is interesting, with comments written by the band on every song.

Purchasing at Amazon, as always, is an excellent experience.

i'M THE FIRST ONE TO REVIEW THE 4TH, BUT CERTAINLY NOT FINAL, RE-PACKAGE OF THE 1990 AEROSMITH BOX SET, SO HERE GOES...
WHAT YOU GET: A FANCY NEW PACKAGE MADE TO LOOK LIKE A HARDBOUND BOOK WITH THE SAME OLD BOOKLET FROM THE ORIGINAL BOX GLUED IN IT. LOUDER SOUND, NOT REMIXED, REMASTERED, OR "SUPER BIT MAPPED" (SBM MEANS NOTHING FOLKS, IT'S A SONY THING THAT THE SUITS MADE UP TO MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE THERE IS SOME KINDA IMPROVEMENT GOING ON). THE DBS ARE CRANKED UP SO THE DISCS SOUND GOOD ON A CHEAPIE DORM ROOM TYPE STEREO BUT FLAT AND LIFELESS ON A "REAL" STEREO. THE DISCS THEMSELVES HAVE CORNY NEW SILKSCREENS TO FURTHER MAKE THIS SET "DEFINITIVE". THEY SHOULD HAVE CALLED THIS SON-OF-A-GUN "pandoras book" it would have made more sense.
I can'T COMPLAIN ABOUT THE GUTS THOUGH. CLUNKER FREE AEROSMITH. FROM STONERS TO COKE-HEADS AND BACK AGAIN, RAGS TO RICHES TO RAGS, KILLER RIFF, MIGHTY SCREAM, RINSE, REPEAT... SONY CAN'T SCREW IT UP, OH, THEY TRY... SQUASH THE BASS, DE-STEREOIZE HERE, RE-EQ THERE, BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY IT'S 'SMITH, THE ONLY 'SMITH, THE ROCK N' ROLL 'SMITH (PRE-MTV). IF YOU DON'T GOT IT, GET IT, ANY FORMAT'LL DO, THEY'RE ALL COOL.
AEROSMITH ARE THE ONLY BAND I KNOW OF THAT MAKES 40 YEAR OLDS WANT TO "DO IT" IN THE BACK SEAT OF A CAR, BUZZIN ON MALT LIQUOR .... DOES LIFE GET ANY COOLER?

This is a stunning collection of what Aerosmith used to be like ages ago. Fascinating collection of songs with some unreleased songs. A must for every fan!!!
