Product Description

Sanchez, Michelle and Coleman thought they had it good when they struck it rich in the Eye of the Idol affair, until that fateful email.
What would bring a man to beg for the help of a complete stranger seven thousand kilometers away?

And what would cause twelve people to mysteriously burn to death on the twelfth day of the twelfth month at twelve o'clock noon?

The retired SIS agent, the university professor and the RCMP officer didn't know. But what they did know was that someone was sending one hell of a message.

Follow the three as they investigate what starts off as a mystery and ends up as a race to uncover a stunning millenniums-old secret that will shatter everything humanity has taken for granted.

This review is from: Pandora's Sister (Kindle Edition)
When I bought Mr Dayton's 'The Eye of the Idol' I was pleasantly surprised. It was my first ebook, and within a few hours, I was immediately hooked by the great adventure story.
Pandora's Sister had been promised for a while, and it continues with the new adventures of the main characters in TEOTI. You don't need to read TEOTI to get into this book though, as it is a sequel, and not a 'part 2'.
My feelings on PS is that this is another great read at a bargain basement price.

Specifics:
The Prologue starts with the story of a guy named Talpede, who meets an unusual and mysterious character. The person has the plans for a super advanced flying machine, something that's far ahead of the 1900's. Were I to take this opening chapter as fiction, I would rate it a 4 star, only because it seemed too impossible to be believable. However, I know Dayton likely wrote about a real guy and that the events were probably real too. Turns out I'm right. Talpede existed, the events in the prologue mostly happened too (I checked) and most of the incredible story mentioned in Dayton's book is based on fact.

Throughout the book, unusual facts are blended in with fiction in such a way as to make the sum seem very real. He did his homework, and I really like that, especially in the ebook market where I have read some real loosers (this is my second purchase from amazon).

Another plus is the pictures. These are of better quality than the ones in TEOTI, and I could zoom in to see all the amazing details. I have no idea how he found these pictures, let alone implement them in a coherent story. I feel that this is a real boon to an ebook and is underused in general, but not by mr Daton. Were it not for the pics, I would have rated the book a 4 star, but the pics won my heart. Reason for the 4 star is that the middle seems to fall a little flat, where the Main characters run from one place to another. However, the story soon pics up again, and all the odd pieces fall together in the usual dayton fashion - meaning in a very clean 'Ah-hah!' kind of way.

Overall, I'd say go for it, especially if you're into realistic adventure. Top stuff at a super cheap price, and the story, writing and dialogue is very believable.

I just discovered another one of his books, We've Seen the Enemy. I've been meaning to purchase his Dysfunctional family one, but I might just buy both, now that I know what to expect.
