Economy is in the tank and here I am reviewing a watch that costs more than some people make in 6 months. All I can say that this is the watch to get if you want to splurge on something less common than Rolex. Not too many people know about Panerai which is good because nobody will ask you if it is fake. Service and quality have not been an issue for me so far.

Make sure that you have enough wrist real estate though for these watches look out of place on small wrists!

The wife and I decided to sell our honda civics to get this watch. On one hand, it kind of sucks because now we have to walk to work and we only have this one watch, so we have to switch off who gets to wear the watch. However, we've already received a compliment for it at the local coffee shop and it's been only one month! Sometimes you just have to spoil yourself, I guess.

I have this timepiece, love it. Panerais are very stylish yet retain the appreciation of aficionados because of the history and also because Panerai is one of the few companies that makes their own movements. The resale on this watch is very high relative to other brands and the most amazing thing, well for me, is that for a 44mm gold watch it is remarkably light on your wrist, despite being much bigger and heavier than my Breitling it feels smaller and lighter when I wear it.

The crocodile strap wears well and a cottage industry of specialty shops are available that offer replacement straps (expect to pay $300 for a strap).

This model comes in a left handed version, the stem in on the opposite side... I am left handed and wish I had ordered that one but I didn't want to wait :(

I bought mine from an authorized dealer in Florida who shipped it to me in California, and before buying one (here or anywhere else) you should verify that you are working with an authorized dealer because in the event you need it repaired a warranty repair will be denied if you did not purchase from an authorized dealer.

I can't say anything about the other reviews, but this is literally the best watch ever. My dad bought a used one for 7000 from his friend who was in financial trouble and gifted it to me. The brand is not well known but you will definitely get compliments on the watch. I have worn it while skydiving and even underwater far from the recommended depth. I am not a person to show off or anything, but this watch is just amazing aesthetically and overall the quality is unmatched for. I've dropped it about 3-4 feet once and I have had no problems. If you can spare the money or can get it on a deal, it is definitely worth it.

The case is elegant -- no doubt about it. Unfortunately, it's a mechanical movement. It ran 20 seconds slow, so last Tuesday I walked into a meeting that had started 20 seconds before I sat down. I'm not the boss, so it's not OK. I got the stink eye from the boss and everyone else at the table. If I get fired, I'm blaming this watch.
