Watch the temp settings to get the toasting just right.
robert johnston
This is a pretty awful toaster because it won't toast something and leave enough of it that's edible.
Roksana Pirog
The bread gets toasted (or, more often than not, burnt) with Domo's face just like it's supposed to.

I'm a huge Domo fanatic. I have at least twenty of the plush toys, and a few calendars over the years.

When I saw this on sale, I jumped at the chance. And I needed a toaster.

As it turns out, I needed a toaster that worked well. This is a pretty awful toaster because it won't toast something and leave enough of it that's edible. The Domo "face" is so entirely charred that it renders the rest of the carb uneatable. If you set it a little bit lower a setting, it won't touch the bread at all.

I wouldn't buy it again, I can't recommend it, and I look for the chance to get a real toaster.

Great Domo toaster. I must admit that I feel a little guilty spreading butter all over a toasty Domo, but I expect that he likes it.

[Good]

The Look of the Toaster: What you see is what you get. It looks just like the picture.

Toasted Bread: It looks like the pictures. It is a bit off centered unless you move the bread to one side of the toaster, which you can figure out pretty quick. It's not too burnt either.

Toast Setting: You can set how burnt you want your toast to be. There's a light setting

Fast: Maybe it's been a while since I used a toaster (when I was a little kid) but I'm pretty surprised as to how fast this thing works.

[Bad]

The only thing I can think of that's not so great is the price. It's a bit steep, but it's understandable given both the features and the fact they had to license the character. Anything Japanese typically isn't cheap.

[Misc]

The setting ranges from 1-5. The best setting for both look and taste is somewhere between 2 and 3.

The toaster appears exactly as pictured; however, the toast is a separate matter. I bought this item on a lark for my wife who thought it "adorable." We gave our toaster away when it arrived -- much to my chagrin. This Domo toaster barely delivers on the image promised on the bread, and it only fits slices of bread. Our previous toaster could crust up bagels and other pastries like most toasters. Domo is lazy though and only deals with average slices of bread. A disappointment, and an expensive one at that.

I wasn't too sure about this one but my eleven year old daught loved it and make toast for everyone Christmas morning. The toast does show nicely and the bread isn't burnt on the face parts like I thought.

Would give it 5 stars but after the suggested several minute burn in period during which it smells and emits smoke getting rid of whatever packing chemicals etc are used the plastic was extremely warm. I understand it's stated for "home use only" meaning it isn't supposed to be used repeatedly too many times and I wasn't concerned it was going to melt or catch fire as it didn't seem to be soft or deforming or anything hence why I'm giving it 4 stars but after running it even 3 or 4 times in a row the plastic near the top is untouchable due to heat and the plastic around the rest of it is noticeably warm/hot though not enough so that you are unable to hold it, I didn't run it more times than that so not sure what the limit is before the plastic around the top deforms. This may be standard for this kind of novelty toaster my only comparisons are commercial grade toasters I've used which remain relatively cool until they've been used dozens of times.

Above is my only complaint though and if you just use it once like it's probably intended for then you'll never notice any real issue, as for the toasting itself that's fantastic it does both a great job toasting and a great job making concise easily distinguishable domo faces on bread. I was fairly surprised that if you use bread similar to the product photos the faces come out as well as they do in the product photos. I haven't tried it with darker breads yet but can only assume the darker the bread the less clear the face will be. I'll update this if that turns out to be incorrect.

* I was very surprised that the toast actually turns out like the promotional images show.
* For best results you should use pre-sliced white bread.
* Actually operates as a good toaster too. Keeps bread moist.
* I found setting the darkness on 3 to be the best.
* You can't put thinner slices in the unit, like the ends of the loaf or it will become stuck in the toaster.
