Sometimes savage but effective examination of 20th century literature,

Intellectual examination of the phoniness and in the authors mind the collapse of the literary establishment in mid to late 20th century. Griffin knows the subject matter well though he goes a little far in some of his criticism of well know literary figures, but overall his point is well taken by this reader.

Yeah, it's dated. But the sentiments are still right on, and Griffin is a great writer who is really funny, if a bit sarcastic. Looking for decent literature is this guy's mission, and he doesn't find a lot these days. Check him out. Hope he writes again!
