As far as durability goes.... Samantha managed to break the Discovery Pets Hyper Mouse (a different company's version of this toy) by burning out the motor within a year, and she broke the original Hyper Mouse by breaking the metal pivot off the wand within 6 months. And now I'm back to buy a Panic Mouse 360. Why? Because my cat loves this SO MUCH, it's still a bargain to me even if I have to buy a new one every year. That averages out to about two bucks a month, for my cat to get daily fun and exercise.
My tip: buy the 360 degree one, not the original. It's much more fun for the cat if she can run all the way around the toy.
BROKEN in 6 minutes after opening. Take that!
The yellow plastic wand broke at the base. I knew she'd break it, but in 6 minutes? The wand is crap.
I originally rated this item 1 for the wand breaking, but now that I've used it for awhile I change my mind. I re-attached the wand using binder clips, and even attached some random cat wands from Petsmart. The cat loves it.
The auto-off timer is great, I can put the toy in the other room and set it for 30 minutes, then I can watch TV in PEACE. Good product, would buy it again, just be prepared to fix it up yourself with rubber bands and binder clips!
1- use rechargeable batteries, this thing will go through them fast if you buy regular ones.
2- I took the ball(mouse) thing off and attached a foot long piece of elastic string instead. The cats used to just grab the mouse and hold on to it and never let go, then get bored. Now the string drags the ground (a personal favorite for my cats)where they can grab it for a few seconds, but being elastic it eventually stretches and slips out from under their paws, causing them to chase it for long periods of time. Even when they get tired they will just lay there on their backs swatting up at it. My cats beg me to turn it on several time a day. Best 25-30 dollars i ever spent for my cats.
My cat shows absolutely ZERO interest in any cat toy I have ever purchased for her that does not require human interaction. She will only play with moving objects controlled by a human being. After reading the reviews on this product, I thought id give this one a try to see if I could keep her busy and still be able to get some work done around the house without my little kitty "helper"
While not entirely effective, this toy has come closer than anything else I've tried. She will play with the toy, while I'm in the same room with her, but if I leave the room, she loses interest in the toy and follows me out of the room and starts meowing again. I can turn this thing on in the kitchen while I cook dinner or near my desk while I try to work on the PC tho, and she will watch it quietly and for the MOST part leaves me alone. I had to replace the pom pom it came with with a feather toy before she would bother to actually attack it tho.

My cats absolutely love this toy. My one cat has learned to turn it on by himself. Hours of fun and very entertaining to watch the cats play with thisPublished on November 16, 2013 by Stay safe
Not great quality - within a few minutes my cats had ripped the toy completely off & I had to superglue it back on. Which meant that replacing the toy would not be an option. Read morePublished on February 7, 2013 by Jen
We have a rather lazy, but very curious cat who LOVES this toy! This is her exercise and our daily dose of laughter. Fun, fun, fun! I highly recommend this toy!Published on January 30, 2013 by Ann Skladanek
This thing breaks at the drop of a hat. When I can finally convince my cat's to play with it, they usually detach the toy from the base in about two seconds. Read morePublished on October 3, 2012 by J. Pryor
We set up the panic Mouse 360, and our cat just looked around for the source of the noise, but wasn't at all impressed by the bouncing black ball on the stick. Read morePublished on September 8, 2012 by Pampet
