Ok I will start by saying Sega CD has a lot of hidden gems for games. Like this one I picked up cheap thanks to amazon. This game is mind blowing. You put it in and right away you notice this game is like nothing else. Its so silly and funny. My advice is play with an open mind. This isnt grand theft auto its kind of a puzzle solver with tons of funny animations. Sega CD lovers need only apply. The story in a nutshell is giant worldwide computer virus breaks everything in the world and now you some little kid has to go around and figure out what are the right buttons to push to make it right. Basicly you they show you a funny animation the a button pad comes up and you will randomy press a botton and hope everything doesnt turn to poop. So many different things can happen all being funny. Im a grown man and it had me laughing. This game like a lot of Sega CD games is full of ambition trying to squeeze through a 12.5 mhz processor with a 16 bit color palate cap so give it some credit for trying. This is one of my top 5 sega cd games. If your into weird, retro, funny, puzzle solvers then this is your game.

Hmmm...I Don't Think This Is A "Game".,

This is a tough one to review because it's not really a game. It's a series of random rooms with series of arbitrary buttons and switches that lead to randomly silly animations that lead you to another random room with another set of buttons and switches, and on and on.There's no puzzle solving, no platforming, no item collecting, no point accumulation, no stat advancement, no character development, and no story progression. There really is no skill necessary to push a button, and if that doesn't lead to your preferred destination, you can just start over and push another button until you get the desired effect. That's your gameplay in a nutshell, and isn't much different of an experience than pushing all the buttons of an elevator in a crowded building. If there's anything positive to say about "Panic" it's that it does utilize all the effects that the Sega CD can pump out, and it is a good looking gaming experience, however, the "game" is so simple that I really can't imagine an adult spending any meaningful time with it. I'm very serious when I say that this is software that might keep a 3-year-old entertained for a half hour. |
