Best spam deleting program out there. Period.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Spam Washer (CD-ROM)
I've tried about 10 spam-deleting programs and this one is hands-down the best. It will import your windows address book to its friends list and will import your mail settings automatically. The rules that it uses to detect spam are highly configurable so if it's acting in a way you don't like, you can change it. The rules that it comes with, however; are highly effective. Don't think you're going to have to tweak it to make it work. Thank you Panicware! I was beginning to think a good spam-deleting program didn't exist.

I've been using "I Hate Spam" for the last three years, and at last got fed up enough to try "SpamWasher", which has been a huge improvement! The box I received even came with a $10 competetive rebate coupon, giving me a $10 rebate with my proof of purchase of a competetive product.SpamWasher seems to operate at least 10 times faster than "I hate Spam", processing 50 emails in well under a minute compared with over 10 minutes for "I hate Spam". Although the SpamWasher rules were initially too conservative, after a few days of training it works fine. SpamWasher's automatic software and rule updates appear to work and I have not yet had to contact customer support. Despite the few minor complaints listed below, SpamWasher is an excelent product and deserves 5 stars! SpamWasher has a slightly different mode of operation - instead of being an Outlook plug-in, SpamWasher is a stand alone miniature resident email program, which then acts as a local server to Outlook. Each time the computer boots a small message window pops up telling me that SpamWasher is installing - and this message window persists even when I configure SpamWasher to try to turn off the splash window. Each time a new email arrives the SpamWasher icon changes into an envelope with a green or red flag to indicate the presence of approved email or spam respectively. Then if I want to review the rules used to process the email, I need to open SpamWasher and look at the email there, because once the email has been delivered to Outlook it will be too late to trace the rules involved. This means that (for now at least) I have to look at the email in both programs, SpamWasher and Outlook. To install SpamWasher, Outlook needs to be modified to use the incoming POP3 hostname "localhost", and my ISP password had to be reentered for SpamWasher. These installation steps were not well documented and at first it was not clear to me that the password request was a legitimate request coming from SpamWasher. Lastly, "I hate spam" would essentially expire each year, turn off, and require me to purchase a renewal to turn it back on. Hopefully SpamWasher won't do this. To sumarize this is a great product and a huge improvement over "I hate Spam". I wish I had gotten fed up and changed products sooner!

Once again another spam program that is supposed to be good and isn't. It's OK. I actually decided to remove the software and I gave it away after two weeks. I don't enjoy going through an extra folder just to remove or accept emails. This program added work as opposed to cutting down on email time.It wasn't horrible, just OK. |
