5.0 out of 5 stars Good phone
This phone is aimed at being an easy phone, and it can be that. It features some nice font sizes and fairly simple operation.

I am a teenager, and I went for this phone instead of a bar phone, a slider phone, smart phone, or any other type. Why? I like flip phones. There is peace of mind knowing that if I fall the inside screen and buttons wont break, and I...

2.0 out of 5 stars not a good replacement for the original Breeze
I bought one of these to replace my 2-year old Pantech Breeze I when the speaker went bad in it, but it is not the same phone. Most of the displays are in a much smaller font and the dialing buttons are much smaller and don't light up. The original was a good choice for someone who can't read small print without reading glasses, but the "new and improved" version isn't.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good phone, August 20, 2010
This review is from: Pantech Breeze II Phone (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
This phone is aimed at being an easy phone, and it can be that. It features some nice font sizes and fairly simple operation.

I am a teenager, and I went for this phone instead of a bar phone, a slider phone, smart phone, or any other type. Why? I like flip phones. There is peace of mind knowing that if I fall the inside screen and buttons wont break, and I dont need to worry about some huge display scratching against my keys while it is in my pocket or backpack.

For a flip phone, it does the job. Once you get use to the interface, it works quite well. There is also an advanced mode, which I keep the phone in. It has internet access, but it isnt blazingly fast--but then again, you shouldnt be buying a flip phone for internet usage or cool apps.

It also has a camera, which many people will point out isnt that good. I believe the culprit is the CMOS sensor and not a CCD sensor, so you keep some more "wobbly" effects. But then again, its a flip phone, so you probably dont need it for the camera.

The grip of the phone is sub par, which is a shame. They built it so the back forms almost a straight line, so there is no angle in which to distinguish the bottom half and top of the phone when opened. Additionally, the back plastic part looks grippable, but its not. While the design seems like it would be easy to grip, it is not. This is a problem for removing the battery and getting to the sim and mini SD card. It is built quite poorly, and I can see it breaking in the future. Tape will be the only rememdy if that happens (very poor design). So, dont open the back :)

I just need a simple flip phone, and access to some simple internet things. This fits the bill.

4.0 out of 5 stars Breeze II: pretty good as a basic phone, August 30, 2010
This review is from: Pantech Breeze II Phone (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
I purchased this because I wanted a cell phone to use as a phone. In general, it works well. It's thin and light, and becomes quite long when opened.

I initially thought that it lacks a speaker phone (even after endless reading of the manual), but I finally discovered that during a call, the "ATT" button activates the speakerphone (the manual directs you to press the speaker button, but it is a soft key that only appears during a call). It works OK, although in general the voice gets distorted. I like to use it when I'm put on hold, so the poor speakerphone quality is not a big issue.

Features that I like:
1 Sound quality and reception are reasonably good (both better than the iPhone 4).
2 Buttons are large and easy to see.
3 Quick dial buttons - set to call your most frequent numbers.
4 Hinge appears sturdy.

Simple things I don't like:
1 The case is slippery, and I already dropped it on the pavement and dinged the paint after only a week.
2 All buttons lead to ... internet charges, until I finally called customer service and had the internet disabled. I would pick simple sounding choices, and suddenly I would be using a browser & getting charged.
3 No headphone jack. It cannot be used with a wired headset, unless you purchase an adapter which plugs into the charger / USB cable connection.

A few notes on more complex features:
1 The phone has 2 interfaces: a "breeze mode" and an "advanced mode." According to the manual, Breeze mode which provides EZ access to the functions used most frequently. In the Breeze mode, you can view an abbreviated menu: Address Book, Messaging, Camera, AT&T Services, Tools and Settings.
I tried both, but the "breeze mode" didn't allow use of the music player. However, the lack of a headphone jack renders the music player useless without Bluetooth enabled headphones or speakers, neither of which I have. Music played over the built-in speaker sounds pretty tinny.
2 I tried using my wife's Plantronics Voyager 520 Bluetooth Headset & pairing went well. Reception is adequate, and vocal quality is slightly worse than just using the phone.
3 The camera is adequate, with poor white balance under moderate indoor lighting.
4 The music player interface is a bit clunky, requiring many keystrokes to get anywhere. Same goes for browsing photos and videos.
5 I found that voice activated dialing works well, a dramatic change from other cell phones I have used. It recognized my voice, and was generally able to find numbers.
6 The supported video formats are MP4, WMA, 3GP and 3G2. However, I tried 2 examples of MP4 encoded video, and these did not play (perhaps wrong size?). It will however, record and play back video. I understand you can send or share it if you want to pay the data charges.
7 I don't text, but I did find the text recognition software appears to work.
8 I purchased an OEM USB connector (not included with phone) to allow copying of photos, music, and videos to an from the phone. I installed a 4 GIG micro-flash card, and the phone will display it as a USB drive with no added software.
9. More detailed review is found on testfreaks "[...]"

In summary, it's a decent choice as a simple phone. Don't expect much from the higher level features, including the music player and camera. Other reviewers have characterized the web interface as slow, but I have not tried it out.

Bought two of these to replace our aging Nokia 6200IM's.

Summary: nice keys, decent screen, fair reception, speakerphone sucks,

Come on guys, our Nokia's are almost 8 years old and these Pantech's barely measure up to them.

Sadly the new Nokia's are not much better.

I guess in their hate to make money, att forgot there are some people who buy phones to make PHONE CALLS ( my, what a concept)

We are Seniors and I purchased two of the original Breeze. I purchased this model because it is easier for my husband to use as it has the 3 Quick Dial Buttons. It has two modes: Breeze Mode and Advanced Mode. The Breeze Mode is ideal for my husband as it has large print and no icons. The Advanced Mode has the icons and more options. It has a speaker phone button which works great. My only problem with it is that it is slippery and difficult to open when your fingers aren't as agile as they used to be. A rubber surface around the edge would improve the overall design and make it less slippery and easier to open. The camera is adequate although I use my digital camera instead.

This phone is nice to hold, durable and has a clear user interface. The "breeze mode" eliminates many unnecessary options that clutter the UI ... a nice innovation by Pantech. Call quality is fine, and pictures from the camera are quite good. Pantech's tech support is fast, immediate and courteous, although we have gotten three different answers from three different reps about Mac compatibility for the phone (confusion reigns!).

We have an iMac running OS X and happily WERE able to sync via Bluetooth in order to transfer photos from the camera. It took us a few hours of looking around the web for answers, so here's the scoop to save someone else the trouble: look on p.144 of the manual for basic instructions on setting up Bluetooth. Next, on your Mac it's under Preferences / Settings (the grey gears icon) / Bluetooth. Enter the Pantech's default passcode, 1234 to pair the devices. The sync process is smooth from there.

Once connected, from the computer, select "Browse this device." You can then select all the pictures on the phone and transfer them. You should have the phone in your hand and click "yes" to approve each file being sent. If you take lots of photos or have other files to transfer, I would recommend getting a micro-SD card (inserts into the phone next to the SIM card, behind the battery) and card reader for to transfer files to save having to approve each file transfer one-at-a-time.

We would give this phone five stars except for the difficulty in transferring photos (and Pantech's confusion on the compatibility question)!

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor phone-speaker phone and ease of use lousy, December 31, 2010
By
This review is from: Pantech Breeze II Phone (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
I bought this phone for my parents who are in their 70's. They had a Nokia flip phone and it had much better sound quality and a much better speakerphone. This phone has a very very bad echo when the speaker is on and a call is made to an IPHONE.

Have replaced the SIM card twice and the reception and echo is not any better.

Would not recommend this phone to anyone.

Just say no to fancy phones and expensive phone contracts.

This thing is nice and basic.

Also, it's #4 on the list of the best 10 phones for lowest radiation.
