The cable does what it's supposed to do & that is, links to desktop and/or laptop computer - but you do have to download the drivers from the Pantech website before you can download files from phone to computer or vice versus. It also recharges the battery, so for all the idiots out there that complain "this cable is just a power cable" - try downloading drivers if you want to do more than just recharge the battery in your phone. Yes, I read reviews before making my purchase & thought it was pretty funny that some folks think just by hooking the cable up to the phone and a computer without installing drivers, it would do more than charge the battery.
The Pantech software is SWEET too, really nice layout & multi-function to boot.

This cable does everything it claims. You can manage contacts, sync with your pc, manage messages, manage files, edit photos and video, access the internet, and 'mms pc composer'. I downloaded .mp3 ringtones up to 350 KB.
You must download the PC suite from Pantech to your pc before use. This download is free.
For those that get an error notice,"For this operation, move to idle screen.";you need to flip open the phone and acknowledge the pop up by clicking OK. Then you can use the software.
I am very pleased.

The cable works great. It is impossible for a UBS cable to work for charging but not for data transfer. You just need to download the correct software for your phone from the Pantech website. Once I installed the software (which includes the drivers for my phone) I was able to tranfer files to my phone and give myself some new ringtones.

The usb cable works for my pantech impact however it only allows me to use it as a music player/usb drive. The software that you can download from the pantech website appears to be incompatible with this cord. If you want their software to work you apparently have to buy the cable off the at&t website.

yup, this is a cable and it works well doing cabley things.

I use it to connect my Pantech Impact to my laptop as a modem so I can have internet. I get about 230 Kb/s.

Oops! What I did wrong was order this cable to load music onto my daughters Pantech Phone. The cable works just fine but what I really needed was a micro-sd card to load music.

I purchased an micros-sd card that has a regular sized SD card adapter and used my card reader (built into my pc) to load music.

You would need this cable only if you do not have an SD card reader and micro-sd adapter for loading music.

Maybe this cable will come in handy for other data transfers like contacts? This I do not know.

I thought I had finally found a synch cord that would allow me to transfer data from my Pantech Breeze C520 to my computer. When this cord arrived, I contacted Pantech to find out how to access the right drivers. I found out that the only thing this cord can do when hooked to a Breeze C520 is charge it. That was not the impression I got from the information here. Quite frankly, I'm pissed--not so much at Pantech, but at whoever put the information in this description. It's misleading. If you have an older model Pantech phone, don't bother, unless you want a charging cord.

we have older Pantech phones and needed a cable to download photos from the phones to our computer. I checked with the AT&T store but they no longer carry accessories for these phones. However they did show me on the internet what the shape of the cable connections should look like. The cable itself cost only $0.88. I ordered four days before Christmas so paid express shipping. i was happy to see the product i purchased was exactly as advertised. i have bought cell phones and other accessories from DIFFERENT vendors, it was a nightmare. look forward to dealing with this one soon. i need a good cell and hope they send me info to my email if they have some unlocked for at&t. trust this vendor....5 stars from me!

The cable actually does work, just not with Windows 7. It's a Pantech driver issue. I didn't try it on an XP machine, but if you have a windows 7 system, this is not the way to transfer your media to/from computer. Suggestion, use an SD card if possible.
