I have three complaints with this phone. First problem - The camera you are unable to use the camera with the phone closed you must open it. Then your finger will be on the lens so it's awkward holding the phone while taking a picture or shooting video. Second problem - if you want to listen to the mp3 player you have to buy a headset designed for this phone due to the...

I have three complaints with this phone. First problem - The camera you are unable to use the camera with the phone closed you must open it. Then your finger will be on the lens so it's awkward holding the phone while taking a picture or shooting video. Second problem - if you want to listen to the mp3 player you have to buy a headset designed for this phone due to the type of input required. Third problem - the touch screen is too sensitive and difficult to use I'm constantly pressing the wrong key then have to delete and start over. I have tried adjusting key sensitivity but I believe that's for the qwerty keyboard inside. I pretty much like everything else about the phone. It has very good, clear reception and the qwerty keyboard buttons are larger than on most blackberry models real useful for texting.

I am a Mom that learned texting out of necessity because of my texting fiend boys. Never thought I would want to upgrade phones for that express purpose, but....This phone rocks. The keyboard is so user friendly and way easier to type lengthy messages than a non Qwearky (sp) keyboard. The touch screen on the outside is nice and sensitive, does what you want. The inside screen's "looks" are incredible, the colors, the font's the navigation, all very, very good in my opinion. The speakerphone is amazing, better than my expensive home phone speaker capability. The Pink option, again, is something I thought I'd never want. I am 41, not 17. However, there were limited colors (some would consider this a drawback) and my son wanted blue (he loves his phone BTW, TOO!). So, asked to see the pink. I really like it. It is a pearl pink, nothing neon_y and the texture to the exterior band of pink on the outside face subdues the look further. Love the inside colors too. My son's blue is a really neat trendy lookin blue as well. Haven't tried all the bells and whistles yet, but look fwd to. Really, really pleased with phone use, texting, sound, coverage, battery life, add on's available, etc.,etc. Read on another site a pretty in depth review that really only knocked the phone for the camera and video capability (and even then, not by a realy significant amount).

4.0 out of 5 stars Stylish and functional phone all in one, March 6, 2010

This review is from: Pantech Impact P7000 Phone, Pink (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
I have had my Pantech Impact for a few weeks and I am extremely happy with it. I did have a Blackjack 2 but I wanted something a little better looking and easier to use. I am very satisfied with my selection of the Pantech Impact. It's sleek and stylish and has many great functions. Best of all, it doesn't require a costly premium data plan. (Standard text messaging plan is required.)

The Impact has many cool features, but below are my favorites:
* Fun pink color (also available in blue)
* Full physical qwerty keyboard with great spacing between letters - very easy to text
* Easy to learn how to use the various features
* Great call reception
* Able to access contacts, text messaging, and switch phone to vibrate mode by pressing a key on the keyboard
* 3 short-cuts can be set up for the most frequently used functions
* Easy to find other frequently used functions from the menu
* Conversation mode for text messages
* Can set up photos as caller IDs for each of your contacts
* Colorful, clear screen when you open the phone

The battery life is average to above average. I've had to charge about every 2 to 3 days (after light to moderate use). The main downside to the phone is it's hard to get a clear picture with the camera. It's difficult to hold the phone still and keep your fingers from blocking the camera. However, it's been okay for occasional, spur-of-the-moment photos.

I think the Impact is a great value phone for anyone looking for a nice looking phone with a keyboard, a variety of features, and lower monthly data fees than many of the smart phones. Great phone for adults or teens.

4.0 out of 5 stars best free phone ever!, December 6, 2010
By
This review is from: Pantech Impact P7000 Phone, Pink (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
I love the keyboard, not a huge fan of the touchscreen because it freezes sometimes. Other than that, I have no complaints. The camera is a little tricky, but works well. On top of all of this, the phone is very durable. I dropped it in a pile of leaves when I got out of the car and didnt notice until the following morning. It had rained three inches overnight. I picked up the phone, dried it off and it worked fine! just a little moisture inside the screen that dried in a few hours. Great purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars So Far So Good - good freebie phone, September 8, 2010
This review is from: Pantech Impact P7000 Phone, Pink (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
If you are already in a contract with ATT, then you should be able to find this phone for free or close to free with a new two-year contract or a contract renewal. It seems very functional so far. Texting is easy. The numbers could be bigger and the number font is not very legible, but pretty soon I will know where the numbers are without looking. The keypad is excellent - it's spacious and the keys are very responsive, but not overly sensitive.
I haven't used the outside of the phone with the number pad much at all, so I can't recommend it or not recommend it. I did cover it immediately with a screen protector because it could definitely get very scratched up over time. The inside of the pink pearl Impact with white backlit keypad is pretty cool - even my 14-year old daughter said so, but she and her friend agreed that the pearl pink color is an "old lady color" and that the outside of the phone with touchscreen number pad is pretty blah-looking It has speakers and a mirror of sorts for a quick check. I love the music player feature. The speakers have crystal clear sound and they do have some volume to them. Also the speaker phone feature is great and really clear also. The speaker phone is automatically on when you use the keypad inside the phone, but you can mute it. I leave the phone open on my desk. I am hoping to minimize opening and closing the phone too much. Let's see what else....
The two megapixel 3x digital zoom camera takes clear, bright pictures, but only of still objects. Any motion will cause a blurry picture. There are two buttons that you can use to take a picture. You can use the middle rectangular button with the blue line or the large round button on the right. That's a great feature. The wide angle lcd screen is very sharp and pleasant to view. The best way to take pictures is to hold the cell phone in your left hand and then use your left hand to snap pictures. If you use your right hand, you run the risk of having your fingers in the picture. I have gotten some great pictures with this camera -especially if you don't need larger than 4 x 6's. It does a good job of brightening up indoor photos. Even the video camera works in low light settings - even for recording performances on stage. The video screen is for some reason very small, so it may not be great for people with vision problems. Maybe there is a setting to expand the video screen(?).
For what I am looking for - calling features, texting, camera and video option and an mp3 player (with microSD memory card), this cell phone seems to be a good choice.

January 10, 2011 (ended up in middle of my review)

This phone is still performing admirably well- no freeze ups ever. My only major complaint (and maybe I'm missing something) is the video camera.
For whatever reason, the video camera shrinks the viewing/recording window, so it is virtually impossible to clearly see what you're recording. Also the recording length is painfully short - like 30 seconds or so, and I don't see how to adjust this. I guess that it's designed simply for sending short video clips only.
If you cover the front with a screen protector and get a phone cover/case, your phone will always look brand new. Since the viewing screen is inside the clam shell, you will never have to deal with a scratched screen or scratched screen protector. You will want a phone cover to protect the back of the phone and keep the battery cover intact should it loosen up over time.

To describe this phone is to say that it's not for those who want a high-tech look, but it's great for those who want easy texting, a decent still camera (not sure how zoom works) and an mp3 player (you will need to invest in an adapter if you want to connect to speakers, but adapters are readily available and inexpensive). And since non-Smart phones are being fazed out, if you just want a cheap way to have unlimited internet access (even if it's clunky and limited) for just $10, then you may want to consider this phone. At ATT, you cannot get unlimited internet access with a Smart Phone. Again, the internet access is very limited. You can turn the $10 plan off and on, though - something you can't do with a SmartPhone plan. (I've learned the hard way with our two new IPhones).

I dropped the phone onto a hard floor surface. The cheap phone case cracked, but the phone survived with no damages.
(January 10, 2011)

I have ordered the headset adapter to attach external speakers and also the usb data cable. I also ordered and received a hard shell case in red. It complements the phone nicely plus it gets rid of the pink color that might "get old" soon. I strongly recommend that you consider an after-market shell for the phone. The one problem that I have already experienced was that the battery cover stopped fitting properly. I returned to Radio Shack and was given a replacement cover. Turns out one of the little plastic pieces had gotten bent. It could be fixed easily, but a miniscule tiny plastic piece caused the battery cover to stop closing properly. The outside shell goes right over the battery cover, so it will keep things in place as well as protecting the corners and back of the phone.

I did read that I will need to install some Pantech software to transfer data from my computer, so I will update this review when I have tested out more of the functions. I am still working on transferring music and I haven't figured it out yet, but I will try with a different computer. The software is readily available to install at the Pantech site. I ordered and received the Pantech OEM USB cable that also functions as a charger from the computer.

All in all, a solid phone which may be a better choice than a touch screen or a Blackberry-type phone for some users and also a better, more solid design as compared with a slider phone. I am so happy to be able to listen to music at my desk and answer texts and calls at the same time! I can't say enough about the quality of the speakers in the phone - great for music and use of the speakerphone. You should be able to purchase this phone without a data package at Radio Shack right now for free. Many cellphone contracts now require a monthly data plan or at least a trial data plan. All phones at my local ATT store require a two month trial data plan.
This phone was one of only five phones available at Radio Shack without a data plan (other two were Samsung Strive and the Pantech Pursuit almost square touchscreen phone in lime green with 7x zoom camera feature and two new Samsung phones - the Sunburst and Pursuit, I think).

I still like this phone. It has some excellent features. I have internet access now for which I pay $10 per month since this phone is not considered a SmartPhone. It is helpful to go to google or wikipedia, look up website phone numbers, or watch youtube videos or check facebook status, but the screen is very small and the image quality is just acceptable. I haven't figured out how to access my emails.

1.0 out of 5 stars Battery covers fall off., July 12, 2010
This review is from: Pantech Impact P7000 Phone, Pink (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
On both of these Pantech Impact P7000s and the replacement phones, the battery covers won't stay on. Right out of the box, the battery covers don't snap on and have to be held on with tape. ATT does not see a problem. YIKES!

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool Phone., June 12, 2011
This review is from: Pantech Impact P7000 Phone, Pink (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
I got this phone because my mom was going on a trip and my dad is not a good planner. So my mom baught this phone for me. I love this phone!!! Love the color and i love the keyboard!! It is east to type and send text messages. the only complaint is that the back falls off all the time and it is hard to put back on. And some times it is hard to answer the phone from the outside because it dosent like too. but i fixed that by changing a setting. Also it takes a while to load pictures if you are looking at them. it has to load for about a second to 2 secconds. Anyway i love this phone. probably 20-30 people have the same phone and they all have the same minor problems that i had. It is a nice size and it fits in your pocket well. It has lots of cool apps you can buy and it has some already on it. All of my friends that have a diffrent phone want this phone!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Many drawbacks! BAD PHONE...., June 11, 2011
This review is from: Pantech Impact P7000 Phone, Pink (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
I bought this phone for both me and my daughter and had to return it TWIICE for the touch screen not working, dropped calls and volume issues. This happened to both phones TWICE. I am a pretty low-key, low maintenance cell phone person, but there was no way I could keep these phones. Good news is that amazonwireless helped me out both times and allowed me to replace it with two different phones.

I love this phone, the pink colors are pretty and I didnt know but on the outside when you press any button the phone vibrates, and also the numbers only light up a purple color, and are only accesable once youve pressed the unlock button on the right side of the phone. that way you dont accidentlly press buttons or butt dial anyone when your phones in your pocket. its not a slider like I thought when I ordered the phone but its opens and the whole keypad is as big as the phone, I love it, the colors are so cute and the screen inside is big enought to watch movies. and there is a mirror on eachside of the screen where the speakers are, and the speakers r pink mesh, very pretty, most the option buttons are easy to use and the phone has a mcro sd slot and a charger/headphone slot. thats all. and the phone does NOT come with a usb cable. ONLy one Wall Charger.
I LOVE THIS PHONE AND WOULD DEFF BUT ANOTHERONE.

1.0 out of 5 stars crappy phone, January 10, 2011
This review is from: Pantech Impact P7000 Phone, Pink (AT&T) (Wireless Phone)
If you want a phone with features that work...do not get this phone!! You cannot end a call by touching the "end" button, you must open then shut your phone! What?? So inconvient. The face plate freezes up and you cannot even answer an incoming call!I try to "unlock" the phone, but still cannot unlock face plate keys!Unacceptable. No help whatsoever from AT&T...repeated calls and visits to the AT&T store, i was dismissed and told to wait until my contract is over then go somewhere else!!! I just want a phone that works!!! I have recently read many reviews that show this problem, as well as other problems, plague this phone. I will take AT&T's advice...I will certainly take my business elsewhere when my contract is over! Unhappy & unsatisfied customer!!!!
