From School Library Journal
Grade 6-9-DuTemple highlights an amazing edifice, the engineering challenges it posed, its place in Roman history, and its legacy. Her clear and straightforward text also relates information about Hadrian, the emperor who planned the project. A number of sidebars provide interesting asides on such topics as workers, building materials, dating the building, and Roman religion. There are numerous color photographs, clear diagrams, and architectural drawings of the building and its interior. Readers will see how the Pantheon's design influenced Thomas Jefferson when he built Monticello. Quoted material is acknowledged in the source notes. This title will be useful for students studying Roman history, and may serve as a browsing choice for budding architects. Libraries will be well served by this fine book.
