The end result--a monitor that displays accurate color and lets you trust what you see on your screen.
The SpyderPRO with OptiCAL delivers precise, repeatable results in a few easy steps. First, a unique pre-calibration function allows you to balance your monitor's RGB guns giving you the widest color gamut your monitor is capable of producing. Next you'll select a target for gamma and color temperature, attach the Spyder to the face of your monitor, and click the "calibrate" button. OptiCAL does the rest! Now you'll know you're getting the most from your monitor.
The SpyderPRO with OptiCAL also includes a portfolio of advanced tools for adjusting calibration parameters for a single monitor or calibrating multiple monitors to a common standard. These tools include a wide choice of gamma and color temperature targets, curve manipulation, precision and expert control modes, information windows, and monitor focus, geometry, and uniformity checking utilities.
A calibrated monitor is the cornerstone of the digital darkroom. The SpyderPRO with OptiCAL addresses this need by providing professionals and advanced amateurs with accurate, reliable, and consistent color from day-to-day, image-to-image, and monitor-to-monitor. With today's soft proofing techniques, the SpyderPRO with OptiCAL lets you trust what you see on your screen.

This review is from: Pantone ColorVision SpyderPRO with OptiCAL Win/Mac (CD-ROM)
You just need to get this. It is that simple. It's inexpensive, easy to use, and produces amazing results. Your printer can only print what is given to it....and if you edit on your monitor and you think the green is green...and the blues are blue...and its not calibrated....there is no telling WHAT your gonna get out of your printer.
Think of it this way....it gets your montitor and your printer talking in basicly the same language...so what you see is what you print. Or continue to pull your hair out...lol. Good investment of very little money. Roman
