Perfect for Digital Printers,
By Nick Young "Nick" (California USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pantone Color Bridge Set (Misc.)
I am a part time Graphic Designer, and full time Pre-press worker for a 4-Color digital print shop. This book is perfect for that.
Many people bring their print jobs in to us and say "I need Pantone 320 for the logo" and we have to explain over and over again that many Pantone colors are impossible to create using on the CMYK color gamut. They always look at us like we are crazy. Now we can just show them the color swatch and how much different it will look when printed in CMYK. Then we can work on finding the closest equivalent color. It's more expensive than other books because it has double the number of color chips in it. But if you plan on printing with any 4 Color Digital, or Press printers it's a must have.

This a great set, that would should be on every designer's desk.
I've used this set to help my clients choose and match colors they want used for their designs, which allows me to provide a digital file to them with both the CMYK and PMS colors called out. Many times a client wants to be able to take their design to a local digital print shop, so it's nice to be able to show the client exactly what they can expect from the output and to know that there won't be any surprises when they get the piece back. There are two sets of matching swatches: PMS solids on the left and the matching CMYK on the right. The solids provide the PMS number, the RGB values, and the HTML hexadecimal value. The CMYK matching colors provide the PMS number and the CMYK values. This is an invaluable tool and one that we can use to help educate our clients.

Without this, graphics professionals would be clueless as to how their spot colors would transfer to CMYK.
This small investment will yield BIG BENEFITS: Select your spot colors based on how they will convert to CMYK Never have a client call with the bad news that their corporate spot color printed wrong in a CMYK magazine. If you don't have this tool, stay out of the color design/production field.

These swatches are great for matching colors and finding PMS colors. The only down fall which would be nice to help identify the definition of Coated or Uncoated colors, would be it the swatches were printed on the medium in which they are listed. (For example: PMS Coated swatches printed on coated paper or PMS Uncoated swatches printed on uncoated paper.) The tear off feature is great!

This pantone bridge set was exactly what I was looking for as an independent graphic designer. It shows you the variations from the PMS colors in CMYK print as well as what they appear like when coated or uncoated. This was a great value purchased together and will be used for years to come.

I have been wondering which color-reference product to buy for some time.
Both of these color fans show pantone color and their corresponding cmyk colors values (or closest possible match). It's a good tool to take to client meeting and decide if and when it is worth splurging on the pantone color. And also as reference for me since I am not exactly sure how perfectly my monitor is calibrated. This way there are no surprises. This is exactly what I was looking for. I only wish that it had a case to protect it, since I like to carry it to meetings with me.

Best solution if you don't need to mix the ink yourself.,

I was agonizing over which Pantone set to purchase until I realized many of them deal with mixing the ink. Since I don't have to worry about that (and the printers I work with all have their own Pantone mixing books), I could focus on what was most important to me: the Pantone color, number and associated CMYK and RGB values. This set was absolutely perfect for my needs.

This is the pantone book that is very important for conversion. It was half the price at Amazon for the same product.

This product is great and a must have if you work with prints and graphics. The only con is the price. This color bridge set gives you the RGB and CMYK composition of all the coated and uncoated Pantone colors.
