The PANTONE® GoeGuide¿ is used to select, specify and communicate 2,058 new solid colors within the PANTONE Goe¿ System. Chromatically arranged with intuitive numbering system, colors are printed with their RGB values and ink mixing formulas for accurate simulation and reproduction. Package includes myPANTONE palettes software for color selection and palette creation. Goe System Colors are created from different combinations of the ten PANTONE_Goe Mixing Bases, with or without PANTONE_Clear and divided into 165 chromatic color families. To reflect the most popular premium paper used, the guide is printed on #1 grade 100 lb coated offset text.

The new Panone Goe color system is a dream come true for designers who routinely specify spot colors. I found it contains double the standard Pantone coated guide's number of colors. This allows for more specific color selections. If you wanted a shade of blue for instance, there are many more in-between shades (value) and more variations of dull to saturated versions of that blue. This is also very helpful with branding, when you're trying to nail down a color that the brand can 'own' in a market category that might have the main colors already 'taken'. I think it will probably take time for all printers to support Goe, but the push will have to come from designers who specify colors from the new library. According the Goe white papers, it seems the mixing system for Goe is very intuitive and not that different from current procedures in spot color ink mixing.

This product does not ship with software. Rather, you are to go to Pantone's website and download free software which you can do now. The problem with the free software is that it requires libraries for which you have to pay additional.

The paper quality should be heavier as it will be used a lot. I would rather pay a few more dollars and have it heavier weight. Lots of colors but wish whites and creams were included.
