An in-depth study of the structure of the German Panzertruppe in Normandy in the summer of '44, plus histories of the panzer regiments and independent battalions. The unit histories are illustrated with wartime photos and modern views of the same subject. Lefevre includes a lot of unit organizational details, which will be welcomed by "After the Battle" fans. Of special interest is his discussion of the discovery of the field grave of SS-Hauptsturmfuehrer Michael Wittmann and his Tiger crew of schwere SS-Panzerabteilung 101 in the spring of 1983. Wittmann's grave was discovered partly as a result of research conducted by Jean Paul Pallud (see "Battle of the Bulge Then and Now") for this book.

A great read for those interested in German armor units' battles in Normandy, and indispensable for the panzer historian who plans to visit the Normandy battlefields.

I m very impressed w this book...it is overall an excellent book about the German panzer units and the panzers that have fought in Normandy. It is also very informative and have good interesting text, great pictures etc

This is another well done collection of the "Then and Now" series but it's even better because it's a volume that includes some items not found in the original releases, not to mention the pages, enlarged pics and glossy format is much better as a hardback. Worth every penny! I especially enjoyed the details describing how Wittman's burial site was found.
