4.0 out of 5 stars Call Me Crazy, but I Liked This.

I expected to cringe. I feared recoiling in a fetal position in horror. And I wanted to give this single one star. Surprisingly enough, she pulls it off well. Kelly's voice won't make us forget about Whitney or Mariah, but she gives this guitar-fueled rendition a tough edge that vaguely recalls the brashness of Courtney Love. In my school of music, "Papa Don't Preach" gets a B.

5.0 out of 5 stars Daddy's little girl grows up, September 12, 2002

This reminds me of their former next-door neighbour Pat Boone and his daughter, Debby, who had her own hit with "You Light Up My Life" 25 years ago. Kelly is now making her debut album and the second season of "The Osbournes" has finally started.

5.0 out of 5 stars A definite hit!, September 14, 2002
This review is from: Papa Don't Preach (Audio CD)
Kelly has breathed life into the Madonna original, making it into a rocky song. It's funky and easy to sing to. Some people say Kelly is cashing in on her father's celebrity status and the tv show, but I reckon she has talent. She can sing, just listen to the track! The video is great and I love dancing to this song! A definite listen, and watch out for more from this girl! She is a positive role model and one of my fave girls. Brilliant stuff!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, September 5, 2002
This review is from: Papa Don't Preach (Audio CD)
I haven't ever written a review before, but I really enjoyed this single, and I had to tell everyone not to be prejudiced before you hear this. I really advise people to listen to it and judge for themselves. It's not exactly like Ozzys style, but I can see she has had a positive effect off her dads influence. There is no doubt that this young lady is very talented, and I hope she pursues a music career, because I really am looking forward to hearing hear more of her in the future. The only possible criticism I have for her is that she needs to develop her voice, and get training or something. Also I would like to hear something original, but of the same sort of style of this single. Apart from that I totally applaud her, because I can't stop playing this song. I also have excellent comments for the video she appeared in for Papa Don't Preach. Miss. Osbourne has a very unique and individual style of music and dress sense, and I have to say that she pulls it off quite well. I like the clothes that she chose to wear in the video, and I liked the sixties feel that I was getting from it. Well done, and two thumbs up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kelly Isn't Just A One Hit Wonder!, August 15, 2002
By
This review is from: Papa Don't Preach (Audio CD)
Kelly Osbourne the daughter of Ozzy Osbourne has released her debut single a cover of the Madonna hit 'Papa Don't Preach' and she handles it very well. Kelly has a strong distinctive voice that overpowers the music. The song which was co-produced by Incubus is quite different to Madonna's original version it has a more punk/rock feel to it. With a song like this Kelly is bound for big things. She also has an album coming out in the near future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kelly Osbourne's 'Papa Don't Preach' A Hit!, August 15, 2002

Good on Kelly for doing such a good job with Madonna's classic hit 'Papa Don't Preach'. Kelly does Madonna proud here, she does not steal the song but gives her version of it with a punk/rock feel to it. The song makes you either want to sing along or tap the steering wheel while listening if in the car, it is extremely catchy and the beats are excellent. The song success may also be because of the help Kelly had by Incubus co-producing. The only thing not so good about the single is we only get the main version of 'Papa Don't Preach' and the instrumental/karaoke version. With a single like this we will be hearing from Kelly Osbourne a lot more. Her album will hopefully be out sometime in the near future.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better Than You'd Think, July 7, 2004
This review is from: Papa Don't Preach (Audio CD)
I was expecting the worst when I heard this song. For one thing, Kelly Osbourne is a very easy target when it comes to music careers. You wouldn't be wrong in saying that she only got to make a CD because of who her dad is and her TV show. Also, "Papa Don't Preach" was one of the biggest hits of the '80s and didn't need a remake.

However, I like this song. It puts a different spin on a well-known song and fits Kelly very well. It may not have been as big a hit as the original, but it is very good in its own right. It's worth checking out.
