Book Description

April 2000 Catholic Century
Catholics revere the pope as the head of their Church; but how much do we know about the papacy itself? This guide will lead you to a deeper understanding of the Holy Father's office. Here you'll find answers to common objections to the papacy, a discussion of historically prominent popes, and explanations of terms such as "papal infallibility." Each section ends with a list of study questions that help you recall important points from the preceding pages. The book includes a glossary of important terms and a chronological list of every pope who has succeeded Peter. "The Papacy" provides readers with everything they need to know to understand the papacy, and to defend it to those who do not. Informative and interesting, this guide is a must for any apologetics library.

From the Publisher

"The Papacy" is an affordable, easy-to-use workbook divided into nine lessons that you can rely on to improve your command of the scriptural basis for the institution of the papacy, papal authority, infallibility, and other critically important but difficult to remember facts regarding this office.

R. Dennis Walters is a lifelong Catholic with more than two decades of formal Catholic education. He spent eight years in seminary before earning a Ph.D. in literature at Michigan State University. 4.0 out of 5 stars A Little Book about Big Things, February 28, 2006
This review is from: The Papacy Learning Guide (Catholic Century) (Paperback)
Wow...this book must be the ligthtest heavy reading I've ever done. But then again, how else could a book about the papacy be only 100 pages?

I may be describing this book as light heavy reading, but it's like this: most things I got on the first read; a few things I had to read two or three times.

Still, though...I'm completely surprised the authors were able to make it that simple. If there's one thing I know, it's that the papacy is a complex topic. This book does an excellent job at helping the reader learn about the papacy and gets past those complexities with flying colors.

Everything most people would ever want to know about the papacy is in here; and, for you overachievers, there's an appendix at the end of the book. I, for one, would like to know more about their motto's.
