Fangirl Anthem,
By Amaranth "music fan" (Northern California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Paparazzi (MP3 Download)
Lady GaGa's "Paparazzi" is a true guilty pleasure anthem. When Lady GaGa penned "The Fame",she still wasn't famous. She created a persona. "Paparazzi" is a tongue-in-cheek approach to her own fame. It's sung from a smitten fangirl's perspective. One can easily imagine a fangirl waving these books- Lovin' Bloom: The Unauthorized Story of Orlando Bloom,Robert Pattinson: True Love Never Dies and Elijah Wood: Hollywood's Hottest Rising Star for an autograph while belting out "I'm following you till you love me."
"Paparazzi" is about those who call themselves the crowd. "We're plastic but we still have fun!" A true guilty pleasure anthem.

[...] Anyway, onto the song. It's not that bad really. It's better than Poker Face but not as catchy as LoveGame. But then again, it's not as annoying as either after repeated plays either. It features a beat that could easily have been from the 90s and vocals that again, are OK but seem uninspired and like she doesn't really care to bring the song to life. I must admit though, I could tolerate hearing this on the radio sometimes like I could tolerate LoveGame. The chorus is pretty decent. It's not earth-shattering or anything, but it's really, really tolerable (which I didn't seem to notice during her VMA's perfomance). The only thing I could do without is the 90s beat. It almost feels like a Britney throwaway. But yeah. For current top 40s stuff, it's not that bad. 3.25 stars would fit it perfectly, but my final rating is a: 3 stars. end note: Not that that's her style, but I would LOVE to see her try to do a big ballad. I'm sure she could pull it off and plus it would REALLY show off her voice which is usually buried in contemporary studio tricks and production gloss.

Great Dance Tune!,

Gaga always delivers a great dance tune. People who like this and other great dance tunes should also check out the new release, Rainy Day (Nightlife Mix)'Rainy Day (Nighlife Mix)' by Gallery of Voices.

This is the song I bought for download even though Bad Romance has the killer video and message. Paparazzi is just young and Madonna pop-y. She's ONLY 23 years old!

Gaga Tabloid,

When it has came down to Lady Gaga, she hasn't really been able to make a good song all her own. After the lackluster electronica she had used for Lovegame, and Just Dance. For her latest single, the 4th from her debut album The Fame, she decides to bring in a darker edge with Paparazzi. The song isn't that good, but it honestly is better than the other ones she came out with for her record. It honestly is better than the ones Britney Spears made for her record, Circus or the single Madonna had made, Celebration. While I still am admit she does need to find a better edge to her snapshots, Lady Gaga pull a interesting rabbit out of the hat with this song. But, if she does have another single soon from this album, or from a new album, she has to really top it while the flash blubs are starting to become hot.
Song: C+

Not nearly as catchy as Pokerface or Lets dance. Gaga is just another label created artist who is lucky enough to be backed by the talented producers behind the tracks. This particular offering is the least appealing of her singles.
