Within 'Star Time', this is the classic example where you get the elongated version of a hit, 'Papa's Got a Brand New Bag', a song so good that the longer version is really where it is at. It enables a full development of the hit and some classic sax work by Maceo. This is among the reasons why 'Star Time' is such an important piece to have if you are a JB fan. He needs the longer versions of his songs to really strut his stuff, and 'Star Time' gives you several instances of that throughout the 3 or 4 discs contained there-in. One of the better box sets of an artist I have ever been exposed to.

James Brown knows how to make you want to get down and get funky with this tune. He may have passed on but this song provides a glimpse of how Brown was the master of his art.
