5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Metaphor, September 7, 2009
This review is from: Paper Gangsta (MP3 Download)
One of--if not perhaps THE--main reason I like this song is because of the metaphors GaGa uses in her song. Comparing someone who wants to emulate another person in order to be with someone as a 'paper gangster' is a great way to point out how people are following trends and not being themselves. The verse, 'Don't want no paper gangsta, won't sign away my life to, someone who's got no flavor, or don't have no follow through' makes it stand out as one of the most poetic songs on the entire 'The Fame' album. Unlike her singles Poker Face, which revels in subtle image about bisexuality, or Lovegame, which is basically about sex, 'Paper Gangsta' does GaGa's songwriting and singing talent justice by showing the general audience that she can indeed write about real topics, and not just about sex, drugs and money.

If anyone should listen or purchase a song by this artist, it should be Paper Gangsta, if only for the message behind it.
