Pros:
Retractable Eraser
Lead Indicator
Balanced Weight and Form
Sturdy

Cons:
Grip is somewhat rough

The Pro Touch II is a great tool that not only looks great, but also has a lot of attractive features which make it a great addition to anyone's ensemble of pencils. The eraser can be replaced, and is extremely useful for precision erasing. It has to be one of the most useful features on the thing. The lead indicator, if you use a wide array of leads, can be of some use (I personally don't need this, but it is a nice feature tacked on). What got me to pick this up, however, was this pencil's fine balance. It is somewhat long, and has a nice thin spread, making it one of those pencils good for spinning, and very comfortable to hold. The only downside to this pencil is the grip; myself I find it a bit annoying at times, yet others who have used my Pro Touch II actually liked the grip.

Anyways, this pencil, save for the grip, is amazing. It has everything in aces, and the grip can be sandpapered down or replaced by a rubber grip, if you can find one!

5 if you like the grip (I don't mind it);
3.5->4 if it troublesome.

I became a mechanical pencil convert a long time ago, but only when I discovered the high quality pencils on the market. I started with a Koh-I-Noor .5mm Rapidographic. It was a great pencil. Unfortunately, I dropped it one too many times and the tip became damaged. I went looking for a replacement and found that the newer models were not the same pencils! Made in China, the knurling was smoother, the overall quality poorer. I threw it in a drawer and sought out a different source. I ordered some of these Protouch II's (then under the Sanford brand name) and I could not have been happier. I once again found a pencil with good balance, the right knurling, and a nice long eraser with a rotary feed--just a great device. I recently got a .7mm and found the Paper Mate branding did not affect the quality. Still well made and a delight to use.

I have to say, I have used so many mechanical pencils, and this one has gone far beyond what I expected. I originally bough 2, thinking I would lose one or it would break, but they have both been amazing. This is the only mechanical pencil that I have used for 2 years. I love it, and will always use it.
