1. It has a retractable point so it doesn't poke holes in your shirt.
2. It has a large, long eraser that can be raised or lowered by simply twisting the barrel.
3. The area where you hold the pencil is cushioned and comfortable.
4. The shirt clip is metal instead of plastic and is reasonably strong. I must have fifty pens and pencils around the house with broken clips that were plastic.
This is a well made pencil at a great price. I only have two small complaints. The back part of the pencil rotates too easily thereby feeding out the eraser when you don't want it to do so. Secondly, the shirt clip appears to be stronger on the older Sanford model. This is a minor issue and I could well be wrong as I haven't bent or broken the clip on either pencil.
Lastly, the mechanical design of this pencil appears to be very strong. I have used one daily for some time. It has never broken or failed to feed the lead. In other words they work reliably.
I have been using this pencil since I found one by chance in sixth grade.(2000)
These pencils have taken me through middle, high, and college, and still in use in my professional life.
I have not been able to find a better pencil.
They used to have metal clips, which were then turned into plastic, and the shape is a little more refined, but the pencil is still the best I have ever used.
-Long eraser life
-Balanced really well for pencil spinning
I really recommend these pencils!
I know they are pricey at $5, but as a student I would go through one a year. Maybe two if I had some intensive note taking.
The grip will eventually stretch out so that it slips over the metal tip, which to me, means it is time to get a new one.
Seriously, Try this pencil. Its such a good product that I felt compelled to write a review for it on amazon.
I find that I write better with this pencil than any other pencil. I think that it might be because the pencil has some "give", where it allows me to push the lead into a little bit if I apply pressure. This causes my writing to be smoother, and it even feels more comfortable to write with it.
All in all, seriously think about buying this pencil; I highly recommend it.
