The pen has a lot going for it -- it feels very comfortable in my hand. There is a cushiony part right near the writing end which allows you to write for long periods of time without your fingers hurting. The ink flows nicely and doesn't spread or smear. I can write in very tiny boxes with this pen when I can't with others.
My high school freshman is writing a LOT in school and these are also her favorite pens. When I realized we both liked them the best, I decided it had a lot to do with the pen versus personal preference.
However, for ink labelled "lubriglide", I was slightly disappointed (BIC Ultras and RSVPs write smoother). Also, the refills cost twice as much as the pen. (However, stick pens lend themselves to some mix and match- a bit cut off the end of an RSVP refill fits the X-tend nicely, which is why I decided to buy them anyway and not the retractables).
I remember these pens being a lot better back when they were sold in drugstores. I think PM cut production costs as of late and it shows.
You won't find a nice grip like this on any other stick BP body for the price though, so five stars to channel traffic since they can only be bought online now, but really they get a four.

The grip is a little softer than Pilot's Dr. Grip, and thus more comfortable. Writes smoothly.Published on January 19, 2010 by Shostakovich
