5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent model book for an adult
Similar to books published a few years ago by Andrew Dewar, this is a book for assembling flying paper airplane models. This book includes 24 different aircraft from WW2 to the present time. A section of the book is devoted to small histories of each airplane that is modeled, with the remainder being full color punch-out pages of airplane parts. Coloring of the airplane...

2.0 out of 5 stars these planes don't fly
Two stars for a very informative text with pictures, photos, and diagrams of military jet aircraft and general avionics. However, the model planes are extremely difficult to construct. Do NOT buy this book for any but the most enthusiastic model builder.

Do NOT buy this book for kids.

The authors could have made these models easier to build but...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent model book for an adult, March 9, 2008
This review is from: Paper Pilot: The Paper Airplane Pilot's Manual (Paperback)
Similar to books published a few years ago by Andrew Dewar, this is a book for assembling flying paper airplane models. This book includes 24 different aircraft from WW2 to the present time. A section of the book is devoted to small histories of each airplane that is modeled, with the remainder being full color punch-out pages of airplane parts. Coloring of the airplane parts is excellent, but most of the airplane schemes are dull grays or blacks.

Assembly of the planes requires forming and folding flat paper into the various curved shapes that aircraft have. Pieces need to be glued together (be careful about using too much or the paper will probably warp). Instructions for each model are a very few (sometimes only one) blow-up diagrams of the general part arrangement, with no additional text. Individual parts have basic instructions shown near the punch-out such as 'fold 180 degrees', 'right wing', 'engines X8', or 'roll, for ballast'. If the builder is patient and careful, the models will fly. Note: I said 'patient and careful', meaning this book is not the best for children... it's best for adult plane buffs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real pilots love it., January 17, 2008
This review is from: Paper Pilot: The Paper Airplane Pilot's Manual (Paperback)
Top notch information graphics. A lot of complex information about the airplanes is conveyed a clear, immediate and beautiful manner. My youngest brother got his flying license when he was 16-the youngest pilot in Canada. Now, at 20 he flys private jets in Indonesia. I sent the book to him and he enjoyed it. You can see some spreads from the book at www.juliettecezzar.com

Excellent book. The airplanes are tough but if you stick to it, it's worth it. My son is 10 and he could not put it down!

I ordered this book for my dad thinking it was just a paper airplane book. That part of the book is spendid. Excellent detail. What surprized me is the first half. This is the best collection of stats and photos I have found in one source. I ordered three more for myself and friends.

Interesting novel book. I didn't want to wreck it by ripping out the pages to make the planes. Still it's interesting and unique.

1.0 out of 5 stars Insanely Difficult, October 10, 2007
This review is from: Paper Pilot: The Paper Airplane Pilot's Manual (Paperback)
I spend hours a day assembling different types of paper models. I have never come across a set of models with as *little* assembly information as are in this book.

The artwork on the planes is wonderful. The printing is horrid and offset to the point that the punch-out marks often leave major portions of the pieces still in the book.

Overall, I was extremely dissatisfied with the book and if I could return it for any kind of refund, I would.

The authors could have made these models easier to build but didn't. Shame.
