what an eye-opener! never imagined that the book will be so interesting and so revealing. I was under the impression that the scientists, to save their own skin and to have an easy life, wanted to surrender to the allies. but it was the other way round. The book shows how desperately the allies needed the advanced scientific knowledge in every field, of a defeated nation. tom bower has written it very nicely. history lovers and ww-2 buffs must read it. a very interesting book indeed. I would have really missed it if I had not bought it.

It was an excellent book and well documented but a bit dry. It was a good description of how apparent need overcomes moral delema. I was very surprised at how technically advanced the Germans were during WWII compared to the rest of the world and how after the war there was such an effort by the allied forces to grab that technology, copy it, and improve upon it.
