I saw this first with Wreck-it Ralph, after the movie I pondered on Paperman. Incredible on every level:

Looks: the revolutionary animation style makes 3D animation feel hand drawn. I will not be surprised to see this style done feature length. Simply Spectacular!
Story: Have you ever given your whole soul in a mad dash for something, just to watch it slip through your outstretched hands? Its the story of a moment's chance meeting, but when paths cross again the boy knows its now or never. Too say any more is too much.
Sound: The Music is perfect. A simple melody line which gains power. Little sounds that speak volumes. Have you ever heard hope?

What is comes down to; 6 and a half of the best minutes in the Disney history. Accomplished without words, a simple score, and with no more color than a newspaper and a rose petal.

This Disney animated short is so impressive I didn't want to just watch online, I had to buy it. I like seeing it in my video library. I love that it's done in black & white. I love the urban setting - the buildings, the train and even the office space. I love the guy, especially when he laughs. The paper airplane thing is very creative and the ending makes me smile.

This story is only 7 minutes long, so if I tell you about it, I'll spoil it. (Just watch the trailer Amazon provides. It's like the first minute or two anyway.)

But, it is definitely worth watching. It's so adorable, and the soundtrack is beautiful. I wish I could buy the song they use.

Between this and "Adam and Dog", the race for the Best Animated Short oscar is a two horse race. This little short film told a better love story then most romantic comedies do in an entire feature film. Worth seeing, but also check out "Adam and Dog".

This short has no dialoge yet you follow it easily. It is a little quirky but is a feel good short you can look at repeatedly for a little boost.

Guy meets girl. Guy wants to get girl's attention. Guy uses a lot of paper to get the girl's attention to no avail. BUT WAIT! Magic is in the air!

I greatly enjoyed "Paperman." At it's core a "boy meets girl of his dreams" story that's been told time and again, it nevertheless tells its tale with wit, charm, and a beautiful mix of traditional and computer generated animation. And if, like me, you're lousy at making paper airplanes, you'll laugh out loud. Highly recommended.
