Product Description

Papersurfer - the diary of a middle aged surfer aged 38 and a half.

This book is a vital tool for any person slipping into the throws of a mid-life crisis. Do you feel that your youth (and hairline) is fading away? Is the excitement and elation of yesteryear becoming distant memories?

Papersurfer will nurture you through these tough times with vital lessons in life, love and most importantly - surfing. Penfold has chronicled his own difficult journey through these times with excerpts from his diary and illustrations from the depths of his sun-addled mind...

"You will not learn any radical manoeuvres or how to ‘charge Pipe’ from within these pages. However, I can give you clues as to which way round you should wear your wetsuit and how not to get a thorough beating from the locals. May the swell be with you."

1.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointed, December 3, 2011

This "book" was very short. Basically a published diary/blog. It isn't really cohesive, just random dated entries about a beginner starting surfing written sarcastically with British humor telling you the wrong things to do when staring out surfing. I read it in about 30 minutes. It really wasn't worth it for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bald men can surf, July 17, 2011
This review is from: Papersurfer (Kindle Edition)
A funny and insightful look into the somewhat ridiculous mind of the middle aged man. Told through the guise of surf lessons it pokes fun at the world and culture of surfing in a sharp and humorous way.

An excellent read - I thoroughly recommend it to anybody wanting to know more about either of these things (men and surfing)...

5.0 out of 5 stars PAPERSURFER - SURFING BUT NOT AS WE KNOW IT, April 6, 2010
This review is from: Papersurfer (Kindle Edition)
Penfold Crockett's "Papersurfer" is an engaging, ironic take on surfing. It made me smile, and even though I'm not a laugh out loud sort of person I did that too - several times! If you're a novice surfer, if you're having a mid-life crisis or if you're married to some one in the throes of one, or none of the above, it's funny, easily digestible and has some very nice illustrations. I'm not a surfer, not in crisis [at the time of writing] but having watched the antics of these strange semi-marine beings, apparently intent on self destruction, on many a long afternoon at the beach, I can say that I've observed a lot of the behaviour talked about here. I would also say there's some good common sense advice in here for a real surfing person!
