Book Description

January 15, 1999
Par-formance®, The Golf Score Journal works on an individual basis for a golfer as a reference to rounds played and to track your game from tee to green. Par-formance® provides a golfer the added value of a detailed journal to record scores and to chart progress and improvement. By visually seeing your results, it will allow you to focus on your strengths and weaknesses. Use Par-formance® as you play or later when you review your round. It is a different discipline for scoring a round and is ideal for golfers of all skill levels. Par-formance® is a great educational reference with the 2004 - 2007 "Golf Rules in Brief" reprinted with the permission of the United States Golf Association®. The following are the journals five sections:

Goal Section - A statement of current and desired goals
Scoring Section - Allows a golfer to record twenty rounds per journal providing a complete snapshot of their round by referencing courses played, playing partners, weather conditions, clubs used per hole.
Chart Section - Records and measures consistency and accuracy of fairways / greens in regulation / putts / penalty strokes / total score / averages and statistics for all twenty rounds
Notes Section - To keep notes on lessons and or instruction
Rules Section - A summary of some of the principle "Golf Rules In Brief" reprinted with the permission of the United States Golf Association® and the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews

Par formance® is an excellent compliment to instructions and lessons from PGA teaching professionals and gives the instructor additional feedback on how well the golfer has applied the instructor’s lessons to both practice and rounds played. Par-formance® is constructed of a durable plastic cover and a wiro-binding to last for the complete twenty rounds through all conditions of weather and play. It develops better course management and is an excellent reference for tournament play.

Par-formance®, The Golf Score Journal is published by the Harvey Publishing Group and is a Licensee of the United States Golf Association®. Par-formance® is currently sold to country clubs, pro-shops, golf stores, gift companies, golf schools, to both high school and college golf teams, to PGA teaching professionals, and to individuals.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was skeptical until I had used it a few times . . ., December 17, 2000

If you think your memory serves you well on the courses you play regularly, you're in for a surprise. When I first saw a friend of mine using one of these I kidded him about getting old and losing his memory. He told me a pro recommended it for "fine-tuning" your club selection and that it had taken a couple of strokes off his game on the courses he played regularly (when you're a low-handicapper like him you're looking for all kinds of edges).

I wasn't convinced, but for less than $10 I also didn't think I had anything to lose. Now I wish I had picked one up a long time ago - I'm going to need another one soon, because I fill it out religiously and even keep a photocopy in the office in case I lose it or my bag gets stolen.

It's like having a caddy that has seen every shot you've ever made on every hole standing with you as you look at the bag and start thinking how you're going to swing the club. Sure, there are guys who look at me like I'm waaayyy tooooo serious about the game when I pull it out, but if the game's close, tough.

It also proves how selective your memory can be if you play a lot. A couple of times I've argued with myself about what's in the book versus what my gut tells me I ought to do. But if I'm standing in a sort-of familiar spot and 60% of the time I've made the green in two by using a 5 iron and 40% of the time I didn't because I used more stroke on a 7, well, you figure it out. It's not always dramatic, but statistics don't often lie if you're honest about what you put down.

I also used it to have a pro help me with some trouble-spots, shots that I sort-of knew I needed to learn how to make. They showed up in the numbers after a few weeks. He could tell I was struggling in a few positions on a couple of holes - I was trying too many different clubs and strokes to get over hazards.

Now if we can just get this in a PDA somehow!

5.0 out of 5 stars Par4M, September 20, 2010
This review is from: Par-formance, The Golf Score Journal (Spiral-bound)
I just love this journal. I have just recorded my last round of golf and need to order another. My friends tease me for recording every stroke in a round of golf but they also want one. I am so disappointed that it is not available right now. This is a fantastic find. I can track improvement as well as troublesome holes at my favorite courses. It makes for great conversation of your memorable rounds for golf enthusiasts.
