This book was given to me after the diving death of my oldest brother. The pictures were too beautiful for me to even look at in the beginning, but after a few weeks I became brave enough to leaf through it an actually read it. It gave me a wonderful feeling of peace and calm. I recommend it for anyone who needs a break from stress, or to help them focus on God's second book...nature.

The photography in this small book is outstanding. Coupled with a thoughtful text, it makes an excellent gift book for those suffering the loss of a loved one, change in life/job situation, and much more.

Dr. Reeve has opened a spiritual window of God's love to respond to the very difficult questions of faith - "Why do bad, traumatic things happen to us?" She uses examples of the rain forest, an avalanche, and a volcano to show that God's "end is not death. It is always life."

I am a novice photographer, and my husband is an artist. We have found that in our travels we are drawn to finding objects not of such profound beauty that most can see, but look for "life" in those places most pass over. I did not understand this drive, but I do now. Through death - life reigns. It is God's promise. Finding the beauty of life amongst death, decay, and devastation offers us Hope for eternal life of "beauty, gladness and praise."

Thank you, Dr. Reeve for a beautiful insight.

Almost twenty years ago a fellow pastor gave me a dozen or so copies of Pamela Reeve's excellent little book, "Parables of the Forest." In the years following I have carefully rationed my hoard; not handing them out in bulk or at every funeral, but here and there, selectively, when the grief seemed to hit one of God's redeemed children the hardest. The post-reading response has always been profoundly gratifying. God has spoken clearly and powerfully through this book to those who were shaken to their core by death, renewing them to faith and hope.
I have only four left. Sunday I will part with another one and pray that our gracious Redeemer will once again do His healing work in a shredded heart.

A good friend gave me a copy when one of my sons died tweny years ago. I have referred to it often and have given it to friends.. This book would be appropriate for someone grieving the loss of a loved one, financial catastrophy, divorce, etc. It is probably one of the best I have ever read!

This is a wonderful, beautiful book that I have kept for years. I turn to it in times of loss, or grief. It reminds me that God is the God of resurrection and He brings Life out of death, always. Great Gift
