More About the Author

Danae Dobson recently completed her second nonfiction project entitled Let's Walk the Talk. This inspirational book is a sequel to her former publication for adolescent girls entitled Let's Talk! Danae is also active in her speaking ministry, addressing women at church-related events such as banquets, teas, and conferences. She is also involved in seminars for teens and speaks to children at Christian schools. Danae was born in Southern California and wrote her first children's manuscript, Woof! A Bedtime Story about a Dog, at the age of twelve. Upon publication, she became the youngest author in the twenty-five-year history of that publishing house. It's a title that she still holds today. In 1990 she received her bachelor's degree in communication from Azusa Pacific University. She has authored twenty-three books to date, including the popular Woof series that was spun off of her original story. These best-selling books have sold more than 400,000 copies and have also been released in the United Kingdom and Indonesia. Other works include Parables for Kids (coauthored with Dr. James Dobson), the Forest Friends series, and the Sunny Street Kids' Club series. Danae has appeared on The 700 Club and Time for Hope, and she has been a guest on more than one hundred radio broadcasts, including Minirth Meier and Focus on the Family. She has also been a featured speaker at the Christian Booksellers Association, Hawaiian Islands Ministries, MOPS, and numerous Christian schools. Danae is the daughter of Dr. James and Shirley Dobson of Focus on the Family ministry, and has a younger brother, Ryan, who is also an author, a speaker, and an Internet radio host. Danae resides in Southern California.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Stop Listening, October 14, 2000

This review is from: Parables for Kids (Audio Cassette)
We borrowed these audio cassettes from the library. My daughter listened to them over and over. Friends of hers who happened to ride in the car with us listened too, and they didn't want to get out when we arrived at our destination because they needed to finish the story they were on. Very powerful current day illustrations that all kids relate to. They make the parables of Jesus come alive. It's a shame the title isn't more catchy because some kids will miss listening because of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for kids 1st grade - 5th grade, August 28, 2002

This review is from: Parables for Kids (Hardcover)
I am in charge of our church's children's church ages 4- 7. When I ordered this book the description said ages 4-8. When I got the book, it had long pages of text. I did not think that 4 0r even 5 year olds would sit still long enough to hear the story. I love the concept of the book, but I prefer shorter pages of text with illustrations that I can show the kids; or I think I will lose their attention. I do recommend it for ages 6 and up.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent and easily understood tool to teach kids!, March 10, 2003

This review is from: Parables for Kids (Hardcover)
This attractive, hardback book "Parables for Kids" is excellently written and illustrated. Not only the Biblical story, but a contemporary one is presented to allow the child to put today's events and places and things together with the concept the Bible teaches. I used this book to teach a couple of parables to a large group and it was well received. I am eager to buy additional books by these same 2 authors, Danae and James Dobson, daughter and dad.
