Guster Rules!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Parachute (Audio CD)
The CD "Parachute" from Guster, is, in my opinion, probably their best overall album. It also happens to be their first major label release. It definitely has a different feel than "Goldfly", or "Lost and Gone Forever", it seems much more mellowed out. Their later efforts at albums were much more upbeat and pop, this album is not quite as Sugar coated. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love their other CDs also, but they are just different. I think the songs on "Parachute" need a few listens to get used to, but once you hear them a few times they really grow on you. If you are new to Guster I would suggest "Lost and Gone Forever", but if you already own that and want more, this CD is a good look at what Guster was like early on.

Guster is a band which most people can enjoy. It is upbeat, it is lively, and you can sit and listen to it. Their CD "Parachute," is a great mix of their earlier work, which is different from their future works that are considered by many to be better. Guster's second studio album "Goldfly," is a great mix of favorites among the fans. Although both of the albums above contain very good songs (because there is, ofcourse, no bad Guster song), the best album to start off with if you are just getting into Guster would be "Lost and Gone Forever," which contains in my opinion the most popular and the most catchy of their tunes. To close, if you are thinking of buying "Parachute," and are just getting into Guster, forget about it. Buy "Lost and Gone Forever," and move down in the album release chain.

This is a magnificent album, especially for a group of 19 year-olds. It took a while for Parachute to grow on me, but once it did, it was in my cd player for a month straight. While Guster's more recent albums are more polished (and better I think), Parachutes is definitely worth buying. Disregard the foolish advice from: hammer7999eric and buy this album. But buy it from guster.com. It only costs $10, and you're directly supporting the band!

This CD is so awesome that it is hard to find words to describe it. Even though it was the first album Guster released, it was the last one I listened to all of the way through. It is really hard to choose my favorite Guster album, but I feel this may be it. I'm not going to use pretentious musical terms to describe Parachute. Instead I will simply say, this CD will dry your tears and make you remember why you want to live.

This is without a doubt my favorite cd of any band. I bought it a little over a year ago and I haven't gone longer then maybe two weeks without listening to it. It's an amazing album. Guster has been one of my favorite bands since Goldfly's. When I discovered they had an earlier album I immediately bought it before I even had a chance to hear one song off it. The first time I heard it I loved it. These guys are extremely talented musicians. I saw them live at VoodooFest and nearly cried. They're absolutely amazing. I've recommended this album to everyone I meet who's into Guster, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, and Ben Harper. It's got some mellow grooves and some really creative up-beat songs. This album never fails to make me happy.

Simply Amazing,
This review is from: Parachute (Audio CD)
I love all types of music, but Guster seems to be in a category all of their own. You simply cannot label their music or put it in a category. Their originality, lyrics, vocals and percussions separate them from so many other bands. Every song on the album is distinctive and has a different meaning. Songs like "Coccon," "Scars and Stictches," and "Mona Lisa" have so much meaning to me. Guster is one of those rare bands that seem to speak to you through their music. Although I LOVE Goldfly and Lost and Gone Forever, their debut album is simply the best. I will treasure it always.

Guster was the lead band for John Mayer here in Green Bay. I took my daughter to the concert for getting straight A's. After Guster's second song started, I got up and ran out to buy the CD. We have been buying back albums since. Every one is good in it's own way. There is definite evolution of this band over the years. The earlier albums are just as pleasing as the recent releases. My younger daughter loves it as well. Considering I'm in my 40's and my kids in thier teens, it is great to be able to buy music that everyone wants to listen to! Bravo Guster!

This is my fav guster cd by far. The newer stuff jsut doesn't have the raw energy this album does. Two acoustic guitars, bongo drums, and no messin around.

When I first saw Guster at DV8 in SLC, one of their songs made me cry. When I first heard Parachute, the title song did the same. Although this is not my favorite album of theirs, Parachute is definitely worth buying the entire album for. It is a good one to listen to while driving or in the house-- you can have fun with all of the songs. I sing along every time! They really have grown up in their albums (Goldfly and Lost and Gone Forever) but it is great to hear their beginnings. Listen to it a few times before you judge it-- I never get tired of their sound! The best is the drums (all hands!) and the honest vocals. They sound just as good (better!) in concert as they do on the CD.

Wow, if you ever are going to call yourself a music lover you must first call yourself a Guster fan. I just found out about this group (three guys from Boston, MA who met @ Tufts University) this year, and already I cannot imagine life without them. Though Parachute is but their first album, and as all 1st's are its not their greatest, (it's kinda like losing your virginity, a 1st album that is, the other 2 are just highly evolved masterpieces) it's still a must to have. Don't tell anyone, but Guster has replaced the spot for me that once only Dave Matthews could fill. So, take this advice and buy this cd (or tape if you must, maybe both!), try to be the first of your friends to have it! Guster is something the whole family will enjoy so go ahead, spend the meager bit o' dough and enrich your life today w/ Guster :).
