I ordered from Acme Prototype, LLC.

The product tag reads as follows:

===============================================
G.I. PLUS
Type III Commercial Made in the USA

NYLON PARACORD 100ft
550 Type III Commercial

Made by a Certified US Gov't Contractor
500 lb. Test, 7 Strand Core, 100% Nylon
Made in the USA Rothco
===============================================

Contrary to the product description, this paracord was manufactured by Rothco rather than Elite First.
This is commercial grade rather than true Mil Spec MIl-C-5040H TYPE III Paracord.

The cord shipped clean. The nylon is easy to burn and melts very clean, making it easy to seal cut ends to prevent fraying.

I kind of figured I was going to get some paracord that wasn't military spec when I purchased it after I did some research. I ordered 3 different colors at 100ft length. The black is what this bad review is about. I started to measure out a peace to make a key fob when I noticed the inner white nylon strand was threaded out of the outer nylon sheath and back into the outer nylon sheath. This is in multiple spots. Being that it is white on black I would have thought someone would have caught it before it got to me. I will use it anyways because it took them a week to ship it out to me, but only 24 hours from shipment to get to me. So far it is good for my purpose other then the quality control issue.

I received my cord about 4 days ago, I ordered "Olive" for hanging food in trees when camping, I liked the olive color so I wouldn't have anything breaking up the natural color trend I follow. The cord I got was yellow... a real eyesore in the woods, but I figured for the price I'd give it a shot anyway because it seemed like good enough cord. I strung 40lbs of food up and the next morning my food was on the ground! Not eaten so nothing grabbed and dragged it down, the rope just snapped!!! The same day I hung a hammock up with this stuff and found out the sheathing is bad, within 2 hours of a 175lb man being in the hammock the sheathing was ripped off and peeled back. There was about a foot of just the inner fibers holding the rope, which we thought would be fine because that's where the real strength is anyway, about a half hour later we heard some snapping and within 5 minutes the cord snapped and my friend fell to the ground. I read other reviews and there were a lot of complaints about the yellow so I figured since I was shipped crap I'd get a hold of the supplier and have them ship me what I actually ordered, but alas, I have no idea how to contact the supplier to get what I ordered, so right now, 1 star. If the supplier contacts me after reading this and actually ships me what I ordered I would be happy to edit the review and at least give them points for trying to help. Basically: DO NOT ORDER THIS PRODUCT!!! You can get cord that is better quality from other suppliers for about the same price. Repeat: DO NOT ORDER!!!

can't give this stuff a good rating. is has the gov't contractor label...but there are bulges in the cord every 5-9 inches so beware of your seller. thankfully, i bought it just for making zipper pulls.

i guess you get what you pay for.

This is nothing more than cheap nylon rope that can be picked up at walmart. Hardly paracord though. Don't waste your money here.

It's so frustrating not to be able to find good parachute cord. What miffs me most is that this product is labeled as "PARACHUTE CORD" which it is NOT. This is knock-off PARACORD. It is cheap, you get what you pay for - I would gladly pay more for the real thing I just can't find it anywhere and Amazon is cluttered with this garbage, which isn't even worth dealing with the return process.

Three out of the last 4 times I have ordered this, the cable was all bunched up in the middle. Luckily I purchased from Amazon and so was able to return two of them. The last one I needed asap so didn't have time to return and order from a different supplier.

Description says better than military specifications, but it is not even mil-spec. Mil spec has 7 to 9 strands made of 3 inner strands. This has 7 made of 2. There is no colored strand to denote manufacturer. Outer sheath has many frays, tears, wrinkles. Stuff is ok, but description is misleading. These sellers need to stop selling commercial paracord and finding misleading ways to say it is Mil-spec!!!!
