I am a high-power rocketeer, and I read this book many years ago. The technical level is high enough to make this book useful to anyone, and yet simple and itelligible enough for the average reader to understand. The different low-descent, high-deployment- speed, or special-purpose parachute design analyses provide a treasury of information very relevant to my hobby. Parachute design, reefing, and many more topics make this book essential for anyone interested in successful recovery by parachute!

As an aerodynamicist working on the NASA Orion Project (Space Shuttle replacement), I have found that Knacke is considered to be the "Bible" of parachute design, acknowledged by NASA engineers and industrial contractor engineers at multiple companies. This is the first book to purchase for anyone interested in the design and testing of parachute systems, especially considering its extensive provision of empirical data.
