4.0 out of 5 stars Really good!
This one is great driving and working out music. It evoked an emotional response with clever use of melody. The other tracks from Just Be fit in well and it didn't bother me that they were included. This is a milestone work for the Tiesto's career and gerne. Some of it had me probing the inner recesses of my mind. Very visual music. I must pick up more by Tiesto.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not that good
I bought this album purely due to its HUGE importance that it has now played in the history of electronic music being that it is from the night Tiesto DJed the opening ceremony of the 2004 Olympics. It was such an incredible night to watch and hear one of the best DJs spin the ceremony. But this album is poorly put together and the mixing between the tracks is poorly...

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing ceremony, amazing music!!!!!!!!!!!, February 11, 2005

Having been there, the cd would be a definite buy. Not his best work but the whole opening ceremony was so overwhelming that one must collect as much memmorabilia as possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tiesto as always, October 26, 2005
This review is from: Parade of the Athletes (Audio CD)

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing combo of classical and trance, January 17, 2005
This review is from: Parade of the Athletes (Audio CD)
Sure, most of the songs, we've all heard in previous Tiesto albums. And if you haven't, well, buy this album and In Search of Sunrise 3 and you've got a good start.

Let's talk about the new songs in this album. Finally, someone has mixed together classical with trance, and not screwed it up, in fact has made it joyous.

We got a glimpse before in Just Be's "Adagio for Strings" which is also here. But now I see that Tiesto was just warming up. In this album the new tunes clearly embrace classical music, and do it masterfully.

Case in point: Athena. In the middle of this song you find yourself listening to pure classical. Then, slowly but surely, Tiesto adds in subtle layer after layer of beats and synths until one minute later you're in the middle of bangin' trance. It makes me want to dance and jump with excitment every time I hear it, and is now one of my top 3 favorite Tiesto songs.

"Coming Home" and "Victorious" are also the other new uplifting, classically-inspired songs that you just can't miss.

If you find the combo of classical and trance shocking, I dare you to re-listen to Beethoven's 9th for the first time.

I bought this album purely due to its HUGE importance that it has now played in the history of electronic music being that it is from the night Tiesto DJed the opening ceremony of the 2004 Olympics. It was such an incredible night to watch and hear one of the best DJs spin the ceremony. But this album is poorly put together and the mixing between the tracks is poorly done in many instances. The DJing isnt much better than what I do (not saying much) and it has a really choppy feel throughout the entire album. While the tracks are good, and the new unrealeased tracks on here are really cool, they are typical "Tiesto tracks" and if youve heard one youve heard them all...hyped up beats on linear progression with a climax melody that anooys you after about 10 seconds. Eventhough I didnt enjoy the album much, it is still a must due to its history and importance it now holds. Plus, the insert has some awesome pictures...

4.0 out of 5 stars Trance for Everybody, January 25, 2005

Tiesto did this for the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. There is no doubt that it is a great album, full of very impressive tracks and great trance, but it is very toned down from his previous efforts (even "Just Be") to make it more broad ranging for the masses, and it does that job. If you have never listened to trance before then why not start here.

It is not the best trance you will ever hear but maybe investing some time in something historic like the OLYMPICS back in GREECE had a TRANCE opening ceremonies set by this DJ, then you might get to like trance music... and trance is good, when done well by amazing artists like Tiesto.

In short, Tiesto regulars know this is only a medium album for him. Anyone new to trance or want to know what it is about then why not try this?

5.0 out of 5 stars High energy progressive trance, May 23, 2008
This review is from: Parade of the Athletes (Audio CD)
All instrumental. This album flows together nicely. Really gets you pumped and the track Euphoria is a nice mood enhancer. This whole album is great for driving or working out. Or getting your energy pumped up without drugs and enhancing the mood. Played at the olympic games in athens greece 2004. You might hear a slight pop in euphoria that must have just been in the recording not the cd or mp3. I own the cd and before that I owned the mp3. If you want high energy trance that progresses this is it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes its a 5!!!, July 14, 2006
This review is from: Parade of the Athletes (Audio CD)
This is beats only no damn Silence no nothing with vocals!!!

I love this album and with 1 listen I got hooked!

I won't say this is his #1 album but damn sure this is some of his best work!

He brought classical music to this album with the samples of Barber's Adagio For Strings(Adagio For Strings) and Adagio G is Minor(Athena).

I also like 'Anciet History' he probably did that song for other people of the world which I respect.

My only complains (which are stupid) is that in the song 'Coming Home' it doesn't feel like a Coming Home song and it should be renamed. Also damn I want a 2 disc cause this is just great and it left me wanting more! (Told u my complains were stupid)

This album is what competes with Paul Oakenfold's album Tranceport.

Verdict: 5.0 out 5.0 Yes get this!! NOW!! They got the right guy to do the job! I only wish he plays like this again!

P.S. Oh yeah and he should make these songs less harder to find. (Talking about the whole songs not mixed)

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent album, better than the rest!, December 26, 2004
This review is from: Parade of the Athletes (Audio CD)
In this album, DJ Tiesto follows on with new tracks and sounds that signify the games at Athens 2004, just like he described them on the sleeve notes (a different meaning in every song). It is also the best work Tiesto has put together. "Just Be" just didn't do it for me, so I gave it a rest after I found myself listening to it about once a week. "Parade of the Athletes", however is one that I can listen to on a daily basis. Tiesto's mixed drum beats and guitar strings at a basic trance rhythm gives off a better understanding of good music. Tracks such as "Euphoria", "Athena", and "Olympic Flame" are all combined in this album to create a sense of achievement, heroism, and honor that attributes to all the athletes that competed in Athens 2004. I like this CD better than any other CD from Tiesto. It is a better, more understandle type of music composed.

If this is your first time buying a Tiesto album, do not preview any of Tiesto's early work. It is totally different than any other of his compilations. Remember, "Parade of the Athletes" was made live in front of millions of people from around the world (television). So expect something that a million people will feel comfortable with.
