Parade: the Ballet by Erik Satie: Full Score,
By dame ethel (Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Parade in Full Score (Paperback)
Parade is a rather unconventional ballet with music by Erik Satie. I'm very glad to have found this score as I never imagined I would be able to purchase Satie's Parade in notated form at such a reasonable price. Some Details: This score is essentially a republication of the edition published by Salabert, Paris, in 1917, with some added introductory material. The introductory material for this Dover edition includes: - Table of Contents (English and French) - A list of instrumentation (English and French) & the abbreviations used - A glossary of the French terms used in the score - Introductory notes by Victor Rangel-Ribeiro - A note by Georges Auric (translated from the original Salabert publication) I haven't found many errors but one very obvious typo struck me when I opened page 12 and 13. Both are missing the vertical line at the left hand side that joins the staves together to make a system, so it looks like there are four systems per page when there should only be one. Other than this, I haven't noticed anything too iffy. The font is quite interesting with very full note heads. It might be a bit hard to read - sometimes the print is a little blurred, but, seeing as it is a reasonable size, I haven't had any trouble making out what the notes/ expression markings/ etc. should be. |
