5.0 out of 5 stars Parade... a return to vocal base, and fun just like always!, January 7, 2003
This review is from: Parade (Audio CD)
Parade is by far one of Go Fish's greatest works. Out of Breath and Part of the Proof proudly display Go Fish's "acappella with an attitude," while "Created For This" tries to capture the live concert atmosphere. With "Infectious," the music wavers from the strong vocal base that Go Fish is known for, though the songs are still very beautiful, touching, and exciting. Watch out... here comes "Parade"! ...an absolute must-have for your CD collection. Go Fish has really put together the best of all worlds-their acappella, rock, praise and worship... The song "Tonight" is invigorating, and expresses the thrilling, upbeat concert atmosphere. It's absolutely exciting. "The Hand Song" is by far the most touching song on "Parade." It's a story song that really grabs your attention and holds it. As for "Please Please Like Me"-the first song on the album-it starts out perfectly... with acappella. What better way to set the stage for the group that's known for their "acappella with an attitude"? The song makes it clear that it doesn't matter so much how people judge the men in Go Fish. Rather, it's how God views them. As the song says: "I have an audience of one, and you're not Him." Another song, "Piece of Heaven" clearly empathizes with the loss of a loved one. The vocals shine especially in this song, and the heart-felt message is beautiful. The song "Parade" expresses a very interesting point of view. It says that while we may not see all that's going on, God sees "the whole parade," and he knows "just where I'm going." "Chrome Fish" lets the listener imagine how non-Christians may view Christians. Christians may put chrome fish on their dashboards, they may have a Bible sitting next to them, and play Christian music, but "is there anything behind your chrome fish anyway?" "No chrome fish could take the place/ of what people see when your faith is on the line." The song "Chrome Fish" really challenges Christians to live what they believe.
Also, for those who have "Infectious"... did you ever wonder what the mystery object from the hidden track was? Well, wonder no more... it's completed on "Parade"!
"We now return to the cantata entitled `What Did You See' by the group Go Fish"...
Good music, poignant lyrics, a return to a strong vocal base, and a message focused on God.
Let's continue the fun!

A Kid's Review

Go fish is a great band for all ages, young and old. My favorite song on the album has to be the Hand Song. I rate it a 5/5. The first time I heard it I cried (I don't cry ever during movies, songs ect.). That's how touching it is. Please Please like me 3/5 pretty good song but not my thing. Ask 2/5 not my favorite. Savior 3/5 to soft for me but a nice song. The Hand Song 5/5 as I said. Alright 4/5 that's just what it is, alright but not my favorite. Parade 4/5 pretty good yet not my favorite song. Lullaby 2/5 bed time only!! Piece of Heaven 4/5 nice song. Perfect Love 5/5 this and the Hand song are the main reason I got the CD. Chrome Fish 4/5 pretty funny song. Tonight 5/5 Awsome song to sing along to. The bonus track What did you see 5/5 WAY TO FUNNY TO SAY!

"Parade," the last of the Go Fish albums before they transition to childrens music, searches for its sound throughout the album. All of it clearly departs from the sound of their previous album, "Infectious," and Go Fish does their dead-level best to continue mixing things up, although it is evident that they are using a good portion of the songs to build off of "Infectious." Cue the songs like "Alright" and "Chrome Fish" where the sound becomes fresh and almost sounds like a homage to an era that they enjoyed very, very much. In fact, the word "recycle" comes to mind, particularly because if songs like "Alright" and "Chrome Fish" have a nostalgic feel as though you've heard them somewhere before, you'd be right if you pay attention to some of the things done in the background (think "Will You Dance" from both "Acappella" and "Part of the Proof" and then "Part of the Proof" from their album of the same title). Finally, the hidden track - you heard it cut off at the end of the album "Infectious," if you have it, and it must be admitted that this is perhaps one of the more creative ways to indicate the future direction of the band, especially given when they did this album. All in all, it's quite enjoyable to listen to the early Go Fish from "Out of Breath" until now, and I guarantee that this album will not disappoint.

These guys sing great and the songs they choose to sing have such a wonderful message.

My great-nephews, 8 and two 10 year olds, love "Ladybug Frying on the Sidewalk." I don't know for sure what that says about them, but the song is hysterical.

I am particularly fond of "Parade" and "Chrome Fish." Both help me keep my Christian head on straight.

Keep up the great work, guys!
