5.0 out of 5 stars Bleed the Sky
I really wasn't expecting much from this band, considering the recent METALCORE OVERDOSE flooding the market and the association of the word "Bleed" in a band name with awful music. Well, let me just say one thing...im european, and I dont understand why some american people put american metal down to nothing, as if the only thing you do is to copy the pure grain european metal...let me disagree. I really wasn't expecting much from this band, considering the recent METALCORE OVERDOSE flooding the market and the association of the word "Bleed" in a band name with awful music. I was getting kind of sick of Metalcore but this was one of few i don't regret listening too. First off, the drummer kicks ass, the guitars are great, and there singer has a yell that is reminicent of Mark Hunter from Chimaira. He even has a half decent singing voice, although it does sound heavily FXed often times. If your going to compare this band to Chimaira, then lets compare them in an area where they will be better then Chimaira for the reviews sake. What im trying to say is if you were to put Bleed the Sky's debut "Paradigm in Entropy" next to Chimaira's debut "Pass Out of Existence" i'd say Bleed the Sky would own Chimaira. I'll look forward to a future release by these guys and see what direction they've decided to go in, definite potential here. If you like Chimaira, or Metalcore in general i'd recommend this record.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Album, April 17, 2006
By
This review is from: Paradigm in Entropy (Audio CD)
I must've listened to Bleed The Sky's debut album "Paradigm In Entropy" like 4 or 5 times already. Whenever I listen to this album, it just warps straight into my head, and I just can't get enough of it. These guys reminds me of Chimaira alot (one of my favorite bands), but with more intense shrieks and more clean singing. Noah Robinson has a nice vocal range, going from a vicious shriek like scream to an awesome clean singing voice that's not overdone which is a good thing. Guitarists Kyle Moorman and Wayne Miller have some nice crushing dual riffs and even a few solos which is pretty nice (although I wish they could've done more solos on here, but oh well there's always next time). But it's Austin D'Ammond's drumming on here that really gets my attention. This album is chock full of sick double bass drum patterns throughout that really get your adrenaline going. The album kicks off with a bang with my favorite song "Minion". I just love that solo near the ending, it kicks ass. The next three songs "Killtank", "Paradigm In Entropy", and "Skin Un Skin" are juggernauts of ripping double bass drum patterns and searing riffs that'll rip your bare flesh off. Other good songs including "Leverage" and "The Martyr" showcase Noah's clean singing abilities. The other songs are good, but those are my favorites. So anyways if you're a fan of Chimaira, then I suggest you give Bleed The Sky a shot. Grab a can of Monster Energy, put this badboy in your stereo, turn the volume full blast, and raise those horns. Peace Out!
Jeremy's track ratings:
1. Minion - 10/5 Favorite song. Love the solo near the end.
2. Killtank - 5/5
3. Paradigm In Entropy - 5/5
4. Skin Un Skin - 5/5
5. Leverage - 5/5
6. The Martyr - 5/5
7. Gated - 5/5
8. God In The Frame - 5/5
9. Division - 5/5
10. Borrella Mass - 5/5

5.0 out of 5 stars REVIVAL!!!!!, August 8, 2005
This review is from: Paradigm in Entropy (Audio CD)
WOW! I have been watching these guys for quite a long time back when they were still looking for a label. They had a 4 track EP type multimedia deal you could download for free! It was like 4 tracks but it was so great sounding. Then they were signed to to do an album for Nuclear Blast Records (In Flames, Soilwork, ETC.) and i just couldnt wait to hear it. Like one reviewer said. Sounds like old school Chimaira. But yet if you put the 2 bands next to each other. You cant really tell which one is which. They sound that alike. Some major headbanging rip your face off metal right here. The CD starts off with "MINION", which was also on the "Alone In The Dark" OST. Then it tears straight into an instant classic, "KILLTANK" This was a track on there 4 track EP that i just loved, what can i say... REVIVAL!!!!! It sounds just incredible! Then we head into the title track "PARIDIGM IN ENTROPY" Little different but still a sweet track. Then were off into "SKIN UN SKIN" with some deep growls and some cool special sounds... Sounds good and but better LOUD. Next up is my favorite which was also on there 4 track EP... We get "LEVERAGE". This track is well worth owning this CD in the first place. Starts off with an earie lead in, little bit of guitar work... then comes the drums... then they just drop it and RIFFS RIFFS RIFFS just pour out onto the scene. Another instant classic. The CD just sounds amazing... "MARTYR" Is also a great track with some great sound. The rest of the CD is as equal to the first 6 tracks. With an earie, and scary little intermission "GATED" to the next track, "GOD IN THE FRAME". Next is "DIVISION" and after that is "BORRELIA MASS". They should have re-done the other 2 tracks from there EP: "THROUGH THE DIRT" and "FROM SHOTGUNS TO HALOS"... they would have been great additions. But all in all. This CD is well worth it if your a Chimaira Fan, and if you've never heard of Chimaira, but you've heard this stuff... head straight for Chimaira, because they ROCK AS WELL! To all you headbangers. DEVIL HORNS!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Serious Metal, April 23, 2005
This review is from: Paradigm in Entropy (Audio CD)
Paradigm In Entropy is wicked. Strong vocals, astounding guitar work and pounding drums. The production on this album is also superb. Turn it as loud as you can with it out sounding muddled or anything, there are many albums out by much bigger names that were not produced so well.

it has not come out of my cd player since i got it.

This is by far my favorite album to have come out this year. I can't believe how good this album is. Everything on this entire thing is awesome from the production to the musicianship, to the singing. This album was produced at the same studio that Chimaira records their albums in Cleveland. I can really tell that it comes from this studio because you can notice a similarity in the deilvery and presentation of the album. I'm kind of partial to this album because of the Chimaira link but boy was I surprised when I listened to this album all the way through. Matt Devries, the guitarist from Chimaira even recommened these guys, so you know they have to be good to get that kind of endorsement. Kinda the same thing like when Kerry King said Chimaira was the Slayer of our generation. Don't get me wrong they aren't there quite yet, but by helping out bands like Bleed the Sky they are well on their way. This cd hasn't stopped playing on my iPod since I got it on Tuesday. You won't be sorry if you pick up this album, even if you aren't a fan of Chimaira you should really give these guys a shot, I was pleasantly surprised!

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME CD., May 26, 2006
This review is from: Paradigm in Entropy (Audio CD)
This CD is worth every penny. All the songs in this CD are great. Some people want to compare this band to Chimaira but they have their own unique sound. I went to see them live and Noah's voice is the real deal. He has an incredible vocal range. The guitars and drumming are incredible. This is a must have CD for your collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond the ruins lies our victory, September 18, 2005
By
This review is from: Paradigm in Entropy (Audio CD)
I knew nothing about this band when I saw this CD at a local shop. I saw that it had a quote from one of Chimaira's members saying that he loved it, and I like Chimaira, so I figured it couldn't be all bad with that kind of recommendation. The cover art only aided my decision too. From opening song to closing song I was entransed. I, however, don't see the comparison between old Chimiara and Bleed The Sky. For one, Mark Hunter and Noah Robinson sound nothing alike. Noah's scream is more high-pitched, while Mark's scream is more low. And the bands aren't that much similar. I could see Chimaira using some of these riffs though. But one thing they do have in common is that they are the same genre. A thinning one at that. I can never find a good band like this anymore, which is truly sad.

The first song, Minion, is a perfect introduction to the band. Nothing sums up their sound better than this song. From beginning to end, it's one of my favorites on here. Leverage is an instant classic in my eyes. The guitar melody is gorgeous, and the vocal/musical aspect follows in the vain of Bloodsimple's 'Running From Nothing.' I say that because of the singing verses and screaming choruses. And also the fact that the choruses in both songs are amazing. One complaint I have with this CD, and the only one really, is the fact that there's a bit too much singing. It sounds almost exactly like David Draiman's from Disturbed. The Martyr is prime example of this. It's a good song, but, sadly, merely above average. If The Martyr is the low point on this disc, God In The Frame is a definite high point. The screams are even more intense than the rest and the beats and guitar parts are as close to perfect as you'll get.

A few of my favorite songs on here are Minion, Paradigm In Entropy, Leverage, and God In The Frame. I took a chance with these guys and it more than paid off. I can listen straight through this CD and still feel the need to listen to it again. I've heard it straight through 5 times now and I've had it less than a day. If that's any sign for things to come from these guys, I'll be here waiting. This was well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Had never heard of them, Now I cant forget them!!!!, May 10, 2005
This review is from: Paradigm in Entropy (Audio CD)
I had just seen this album in store the other day, and had noticed it because of the cool artwork, and quote from chimaira on the cover. I figured it must be pretty good, or hoped it was and bought it anyway. It is amazing. Crazy riffs, screaming, and beutiful clean vocals, much like that of Chad Gray of Mudvayne when he sings. The screaming sounds like that of a mix between the frontman of Chimaira, and In Flames. I'm very satisfied with my purchase. GO GET THIS ALBUM, PLAY IT A COUPLE TIMES, AND IT'LL BE STUCK IN YOUR HEAD!!!!!

Well, let me just say one thing...im european, and I dont understand why some american people put american metal down to nothing, as if the only thing you do is to copy the pure grain european metal...let me disagree. I didnt knew Bleed the Sky, until I bought this album, and really...its a good album. The vocals could be better, the drums are quite good, and guitars convince...I think they do sound great, not original, but they can create a sound of their own. Very intense music, good to listen, and worth buying.
Its true it still sounds raw, but give the guys a chance, and time to build up their sound...some great bands only achieved that after 3/4 albuns. And do not despise american metal, you still have some of the greatest metal bands.
