Thought provoking and imaginative,

This review is from: Paradigm Shift: Return of the Angels (Hardcover)
What a great combination of thought-provoking theory about the beginning of life and the explanation of the role of aliens vs. religon. Very easy to read and easy to understand. I finished it in just a few days! I could never have predicted this story line which made it the type of book you can't put down. The character developement is outstanding and the plot draws you in and drives you forward with a strength that only intensifies as you read on. I would recommend this book to everyone I know! Can't believe this is the author's first book! Write more!

I was tremendously surprised by this novel. I bought it because I was drawn to the connection between angels and aliens, but I fell in love with the realistic characters and vivid storytelling. I was thrilled to discover a deeply thought out plot which challenged my view of the world. The main character, Hank, an ex-commando who lost a leg in combat, is an interesting hero, and very human. I can't wait for the movie!

This review is from: Paradigm Shift: Return of the Angels (Hardcover)
The author asks all the right questions about how we came to believe in a higher power and how we manage to coexist. He then provides a realistic answer based on critical thinking within the framework of a great action novel. If the Da Vinci Code was provocative then Paradigm Shift is mind bending. This is a must read for those who want more than what's been spoon fed to them by organized religions, politicians and our respective cultures. Do your self a favor, read the book and don't be afraid to question your current way(s) of thinking. Even if you ultimately don't agree with the premise, you still enjoy the ride. I read this book in two sittings. Couldn't put it down.

What a fun read! I read this book in less than 6 days! It is a an action packed thriller that, at the same time, evokes deep and poignant questions about humanity, society and the existence of life beyond our own solar system. If you liked the mystery and adventure of the Da Vinci Code and the sci-fi and action of War of the Worlds, this book combines the best of both and keeps you turning the pages until the very end. It's action-packed plot, contemporary setting and philosophical inquiry makes for a truly enjoyable read. I didn't want it to end!

I don't really read too many thrillers, and I've never taken the time to write a review before, but I really loved this book! The characters were great, the plot twists kept me guessing, and the whole thing really made me think. I had to stop reading the book at night because it kept me awake. Make sure you take a good look at the cover of the book, I didn't see the ufo in the background until I was half way through the book! I think this was even better than the Da Vinci Code!

Angels? Not really, but then . . .,

One thing this book is never and that is predictable! Lots of good action and ideas. I must say this book validated my own thinking regarding what Mankind has done with religion, and the restrictions that this has placed on our development as a species. This story should make quite an action movie, although who would be selected to play the somewhat reluctant hero would remain to be seen!

Great book and good spin on the link between mankind and aliens,
This review is from: Paradigm Shift: Return of the Angels (Hardcover)
I thought this was a great action packed story. I've read a lot of books with great Heroes, the Dirk Pitts, Jason Bourne etc., and Hank is up there with the best of them. I kept trying to visualize who in Hollywood could play this guy. The author has a new twist on Aliens and mankind that makes the book very interesting and provokes you to think about History and religion. Lastly, its hard to believe this is the author's first book. Seems like he's got a lot of story line for more tales to tell.

I was expecting a rehashed "Chariots of the Gods" mystery, but this book is much more than that. It's an action adventure with deep thoughts. Mr. Franklin weaves a epic tale.
I want more.

Hard to believe this is the author's first time out. Excellent read, full of adventure and a challenge to conventional thinking. Thus the title. I'm praying for it's success! :-D

Brilliantly Imaginative,

This review is from: Paradigm Shift: Return of the Angels (Hardcover)
The story starts strong with a chaotic fight scene (one of many) and keeps your interest with many plot twists and turns. It is hard to believe this is the author's first work. As mentioned in previous reviews, it is a large book but you just don't seem to mind when reading it. After a few nail biting heart pounding scenes the story seems to just flow the way a thriller should.
One of the (many) messages of the story is the idea that any person(s) who believe they are privy to some ultimate knowledge is both intellectually immature and naïve. As history has shown us it is often the real world around us that holds amazing truths not the supernatural myths we have created to explain it. As it demonstrates through its characters; when we are faced with world changing events that threaten our survival it will be reason, logic and rational minds that will provide the answers... not panic and ignorance. Mr. Franklin has certainly done his homework, as with all good Sci-fi novels it is peppered throughout the book with a wide range of scientific factoids, from plasma windows (currently only theoretical) to evolutionary science to sociology to name only a few. Of course this is a work of fiction but it does prompt one to think about some of life's biggest questions. Are we alone? Is there something or someone out there? Are they going to play nice if we ever meet? Are we? |
