I bought this CD for the Waxman "Paradine Case" piano concerti. One of the most beautiful pieces written for film. Waxman's work is poetic, complex and darkly romantic, which made him such a perfect fit for Hitchock's films.Moreover, I have come to find that many of my timeless favorite films have one common feature, a score by Waxman. It is worth noting that this CD is recommended by the Waxman "estate"/website for those interested in this particular piece. My only disappointment is with some of the other pieces on the CD... beautifully performed, but not really a good match with the Waxman concerti, very different, more modern and atonal.... Still, this version of "The Paradine Case" is so good, it's worth it for this alone... one of the most haunting and memorable themes of all film themes.
