This review is from: Paradise As a Garden: In Persia and Mughal India (Paperback)
This book was recommended by Emma Clark in her book Islamic gardens (I will link this later). The book itself sets out to give the reader a brief walk through Persia /Mughal history, specifically about the gardens. I believe the details on the gardens is lite...only explaining at a high level the various gardens and the layout. But that's alright I wasn't that interested in this anyway. What I really found interesting was the quick trot through Persian history with a focus on the culture and gardening practices of the people of the past. It was refreshing ,and Shibly the 70's writing style made it an easy read. I enjoyed it immensely.I found the black and white gardening photos particularly bad. Maybe the publisher needs to redo with color photos and reprint? |
