More About the Author

A woman once told me my stories will pull you apart and put you back together, but never in quite the same way. I should've known I'd become a writer when at age thirteen I began changing the ending to all the books I read. It took several years and a number of jobs, including registered nurse, receptionist in a swanky hair salon, accounts payable clerk, and practice manager in an OB/GYN office, for me to rediscover writing. It all began on a brisk Ohio morning at the hands of a 286 computer, a failing marriage, and three daughters under the age of five. Writing proved wonderful (and inexpensive) therapy as I let my fingers and my bruised heart begin a tender love story where the hero and heroine surpass incredible obstacles in search of true happiness and eternal love. But the story was only 100 pages complete when I packed it away and moved with my children to a little rental bungalow where I took on the challenge of single motherhood and re-entering the work force. The 5 ¼" floppy disk containing the love story remained sandwiched between Lotus and PacMan until years later, when I discovered it while unpacking boxes for the home I shared with my new husband, three children, and two stepchildren. I powered up the old 286 computer, popped in the disk and spent the rest of the afternoon re-reading my story, and mapping out my future as a writer. I powered up the old 286 computer, popped in the disk, and spent the rest of the afternoon re-reading the story and mapping out my future as a writer. Since then I've written several books and even published a few! When I'm not writing or following the lives of five "almost" adult to young adult children, I'm digging in the dirt with my flowers and herbs, cooking, reading, walking our rescue lab mix, Cooper, or on the perfect day, riding off into the sunset with my very own "hero" husband on his Electra Glide Classic. 5.0 out of 5 stars potent contemporary tale, March 2, 2002
This review is from: Paradise Found (Zebra Contemporary Romance) (Paperback)
The accident left Matthew Brandon blind and a recluse refusing to allow the world to see him. His despondent brother Adam begs family friend, psychologist Jeff Sanders, to fly across the continent to California to see Matthew. Though willing he cannot leave his wife pregnant with complications at this moment. Jeff asks his partner Sara Hamilton to fill in temporally until he can arrive. Sara believes Matthew contains the same negative traits as her ex-husband and wonders how she can overcome her own obvious bias to help the author who has already devoured four West Coast psychologists. Still no one, including her, refuses Jeff.

Sara travels to California only to hit the Great Wall as Matthew refuse to see her. Like a crash dummy, Sara consistently bashes his defenses until they begin to crumble enabling her to work inside to his fractured soul. He counters by shattering the locks around her heart. Will these two injured beings find solace in their love for one another or will they continual to relive the past that controls the present and the future?

PARADISE FOUND is a potent contemporary tale that stars two hurting individuals that begin to heal through love. The story line could have been a trite retelling of love heals all, but author Mary Campisi never lets the melodrama take control. The audience deeply feels the angst and pain as if it is their own as Ms. Campisi acknowledges that her own first hand dealing with illness and pain is imbued inside her two wonderful lead characters. This furbishes an ardent novel that never loses its focus on the essence of humanity.

5.0 out of 5 stars a very romantic book, January 16, 2009
By
This review is from: Paradise Found (Zebra Contemporary Romance) (Paperback)
the hero is blind, the heroine is hurt by a man in her past. she is trying to help him work again, he is trying to help her open up again. of course, both resist with all their might. but there is an attraction between them that they can't and eventually don't want to resist.
what really moved me was that very soon their attraction turns into love. they realise they care deeply about each other, and shortly after that he gets his sight back. that's when things start to get complicated. for one thing, he doesn't know her by sight................
i loved this book. the hero was great, handsome, efficient, famous, but also very caring, very human and very hurt. their chemistry is incredible from the start and the romantic scenes are plenty and sweet.

When reading through Paradise Found, readers can actually feel the pain and hurt like it is their own. The story may be a little melodramatic but if you enjoy a good story with strong emotions and don't mind shedding tears; it is the perfect story for you.
