If you are looking for a soft glow and flicker this is the item for you. The light itself looks as if you have an actual candle in its frosted encasing. If you are actually looking for a tiki torch that provides lighting then you may not want to get this one,it provides little light. I paired it up with other solar torches to create a lighted walkway through my garden in which it is perfect for.

These solar powered "tiki" torches are just plain fun! You put them up and forget them. They come on by themselves, create a great tropical ambience and no maintainence such as messy filling, or having to put them out after the party. The flickering golden light is quite convincing too, but best of all there's NONE of that revolting kerosene smell and fumes wafting all over your guests and food, reminiscent of trying to hold an outdoor evening on the runway of some domestic airline. (Safe around running kids too, ...unlike the kerosene fuelled models.)
Mine worked perfectly,...first time up ..straight out of the box, ...and with only about 5 hours of sun the first day.(Didn't open the box till late!)
If I HAD to make a criticism I'd say the poles are perhaps a bit flimsy for the heavier top, ...but unless you're planning some pole-dancing as the high-point of your lua, or setting up in a hurricane, then it's hardly going to be a big problem.
Besides, the poles come in three sections, so you can choose what height you want them at.
My guests all comment favourably on these, ...as yet they are unavailable to buy in Australia, but it won't be long. We've got the sun, ......
Buy several, ....they look best in groups.
Addenda: I have had no trouble at all so far with my lights, and they literally stay on until the rising sun in the morning automatically extinguishes them. That's ALL NIGHT!

I purchased these in late Dec. and they were two-packs. I went back in Feb. to purchase another set, but I only received one this time around and it was a different model. It looks similar, but it's definitely not the same. I was very disappointed that they would change the quantity without making it totally clear. The model number is still the same as the two-pack and the price is similar too. I was especially disappointed because I was buying another set, in part, because one of the torches that came in my previous shipment doesn't work properly (solar doesn't charge it, so only battery operated). I was hoping to replace it rather than deal with the hassle of trying to just exchange one item. Beware if you've bought this previously that you're now going to receive only one torch. Aside from the one not working and the confusion with this recent purchase, I like these. We use them for ambiance around our garden.

I have had these in my yard around my pond for years and they have been great but when a couple started to fail I purchased some new ones these new style torches are not the same. First off they have gone from two AA batteries to two AAA batteries so now you have less power so shorter run time. Next the Frosted lens is much more transparent than the ones I had and you can see the shape of the cover on the LEDs inside which takes away from a more natural glow. Finaly the old style had two flickering LEDs which they still claim but it now it only has one flickering and one constant on which makes it look more like a caution light in a road construction zone than a natural flame that the old style appeared to have I am very disappointed with the lack ambiance these give compared to the ones they made before I am going to try to ad a circuit myself to make the second LED flicker and see if that helps. I won't buy any more from paradise. This is an example of if it aint broke don't fix it the origanl design as far as the effect was working perfectly, now not so much!

This product description states that it contains 2, but it is only 1. If this is the intention, then they product description needs to be changed or they need to send me another one. The product itself is very nice and exactly what I wanted.

Flicker lights look great, perfect amount of light not too bright,or too dim. Lights have tropical look that I love.

I love the look and twinkle that this solar tiki torch provides. It adds ambiance to our yard and glows for hours. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to add something special to their yard.

We stayed at a beach house on long beach and the owners had these in the backyard. We love how they mimicked the torch light. It was a great fit for us because in Florida the rains tend to assault tiki lights and compromise the oil. These lamps require none, and yet offer enough equivelent light as the oil burnign lamps. But the best thing is they are completely carefree and always on. You can switch them off anytime you like at the power switch. It does stay burning well past midnight so the battery capacity is as designed.

Pros:

Works as advertised
maintenance free
no constant refilling and oil costs
turns themselves on and off

Cons:

Flimsy rod so it does lean if placed at a slight angle.

I recieved the torches installed them on my deck, one of the three came on dimmling and went out quickly I placed it directley in the sun for 11 hours and it would not charge the batterys. I replaced the batterys and the same thing happened.
The other two are charging but only stay lit for about three hours.
I purchased another light a diffrent brand and it stays lit for 6 hours.

Same problem as others. It's been only a year or so, and I'm on my third set now, because the keep failing. Also their made out of really cheap non UV resistant plastic.

The one I have from Hampton Bay is still going after a year...and that one was clamped to the back of my boat, while getting pounded in 7 foot seas.
