More About the Author

Amazon best-selling author, beer blogger, brewery marketing expert, mom of three, and soccer fan, Liz Crowe is a Kentucky native and graduate of the University of Louisville currently living in Ann Arbor. She has decades of experience in sales and fund raising, plus an eight-year stint as a three-continent, ex-pat trailing spouse.
Her early forays into the publishing world led to a groundbreaking fiction subgenre, "Romance for Real Life," which has gained thousands of fans and followers interested less in the "HEA" and more in the "WHA" ("What Happens After?"). More recently she is garnering even more fans across genres with her latest novels, which are more character-driven fiction, while remaining very much "real life."
With stories set in the not-so-common worlds of breweries, on the soccer pitch, in successful real estate offices and at times in exotic locales like Istanbul, Turkey, her books are unique and told with a fresh voice. The Liz Crowe backlist has something for any reader seeking complex storylines with humor and complete casts of characters that will delight, frustrate and linger in the imagination long after the book is finished.
Don't ever ask her for anything "like a Budweiser" or risk bodily injury.

Fair warning: I'm going to be all over the place with this review. In fact, I've been sitting on this review for weeks, and keep looking over it to be sure that I wasn't being mean or unfair. In some ways Paradise Hops really worked for me, and in other ways I'm feeling less than enthused. Let me break this down into three categories: Characters, Story, and Steam.

It's never a good thing, in my experience, when the main character is the least favorite. Lori is a young woman struggling to work through a very brutal experience. She is an Everywoman, sort of nondescript. I couldn't even tell you what she looked like, except maybe she had brown hair? I actually like that. Lori was mostly okay, until it came to dealing with the two new men in her life, Eli and Garrett. Garrett is the man who's going to save the family brewery. He's precise, kind, intelligent, and not spontaneous in the least. I dare say life with Garrett could be a tad bit boring, yet safe, which is definitely something Lori is looking for. Then you have Eli. Eli is the god in the world of beer brewing. He's cocky, mysterious, and dangerously sexy. Garrett's opposite. Lori loves Garrett, and she wants Eli. What's a girl to do, huh? Apparently Lori is out to have her cake and eat it, too. Me? I didn't really care which guy she ended up with. Wait! Actually I did. I gave Garrett the slight advantage the moment Eli refused to wear a condom, and when he told her to basically speak now or forever hold her vaginal peace, because once he gets started with the boning, there's no stopping Good Old Eli. So that's where I stand with the characters of Paradise Hops.

**Sorry #1: I admit, I've been hard on poor Lori in this review. I'm sure that it would be difficult to decide between two gorgeous, sexy men.

Paradise Hops
Liz Crowe

Paradise Hops is a beautifully and heart wrenching story of healing and
redemption. A story about love, and how life can bring you beauty as you
push through adversity and find personal triumph on the other side.

This story tells the tale of the daughter of a brewery owner Lori Brockton.
She is the victim of a brutal attack that has effected her life in more ways
then one could even contemplate, all of which given the nature of the attack
feel real.

After years of hiding, Lori returns to the family business, her father's
brewery, the Brockton Brewing Company entering into a rotation that will
allow her to learn all aspects of the business from the ground floor up.

Lori is fiercely independent and has no desire or idea how to rely on
someone else. She is surrounded by mostly people who have know her since
childhood, they know her whole life story; that is until she starts to
interact with two of her father's newest employees, Garrett Hunter the new
business manager and Eli Buchannan the new master brewer.

Lori is taken aback by her reaction when she comes face-to-face with over 6
feet of perfection in a suit, Garrett. Her world is turned upside down in
more ways than one; Lori is faced with emotions she has not allowed herself
to feel in years along with a man who will not allow her to deny herself of
them anymore.

Garrett's reaction when he sets eyes on Lori, this wounded beautiful young
woman, is just as powerful. Garrett makes it is mission to help Lori heal,
to fix her and win her heart in the process.

I am not someone who minds reading formulaic novels. In fact, I often find comfort in reading thing like that because I know where the story is going from the first three chapters. Sometimes, however, I want to be shocked. I want to be able to say, "WHAT?!?!?!?!?!" I want to be on that emotional roller coaster. Paradise Hops is this type of book. I am still processing all that happened and I finished the book a few days ago. Liz crafted this story beautifully and every thing fits. It is not a "shock value" story, but boy did it shock me in spots.

Lori is a very broken character after a horrible and violent attack on her before this book even takes place. As this book progresses, we begin to see glimpses of Lori as she used to be. The real Lori. I think this was the most compelling part of the story for me. She made some really bizarre decisions along the way, but they all fit. her relationships, romantic as well as family and work, were fascinating to watch. I think my favorite of all her relationships was that between Lori and Mrs. Anderson, even though we rarely see the two of them together. I find it fascinating that Liz could create such a powerful relationship in such an indirect way.

Do not let the "love triangle" you see in the synopsis fool you. This is not your typical love story. It is so much more than that. Does it have hot and steamy love scenes? Yes. Does it have two amazing guys you only wish both fought over your affections? Probably ;). Does it have a HEA? I would say yes, although it was a far cry from the one I was anticipating.

This book is, for certain sure, not for those under 18. I won an ARC of this novel during a blog hop.
