5.0 out of 5 stars Wow amazing, October 3, 2008
This review is from: Paradise Lost: The Anatomy of Melancholy (DVD)
Those of you who own the Evolve DVD and didnt like how the guitars were almost non existant in the mix, well the Anatomy of Melancholy is for you. After an intro you will here one of the new songs of In Requiem, 'the Enemy'. Right away you will notice that the guitars are heavy!!! The next three songs 'Grey', 'Erased', and 'Red Shift' are taken from the Symbol of Life and Paradise Lost album all are good choices from the albums. 'So Much is Lost' off of the subpar album 'Host' actually sounds better on this. The songs 'Sweetness' and 'Pity the Sadness' are the two stand out tacks on this DVD. Nick doesn't seem to enthuised about playing some of the older songs like 'Embers Fire', 'As I Die' and 'Gothic' but not so much that it ruins the songs. They play the only good song from the Beleive in Nothing album 'Mouth' which sound really good live. Another good track from the Symbol of Life album 'No Celebration' sounds really good live. Nick Holmes says some pretty funny stuff ( I'm not sure if he is intending to be funny or if he is being sarcastic but it's funny to me). One complaint is that there is nothing from the Lost Paradise Album and I would have liked to hear a little more from the Draconian Times and Icon albums.
Anyway this a very entertaining show and I have watched numerous times and would recommend it to all Paradise Lost fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Performance, November 24, 2010

This is a must-have for every pl fans. The performance at the koko its amazing , the set list is very well picked with songs from almost every album , the sound is perfect. The only thing "negative" i have to say is that I cant rip the audio files at least from this version I bought from amazon. Highest points are "as i die" and "forever failure".

It really doesn't get any more metal than this & Paradise Lost are without a doubt one of the scenes most important practitioner's. In this live concert they cover a rather healthy spectrum from their early period to their current work. It's all very loud, definitive, & a nice follow up to their "Evolve" DVD. Long live Paradise Lost!
