A Lost Classic, Even in It's Day,

This review is from: Paradise With an Ocean View (Audio CD)
I see that I'm only the 3rd person to offer a review for Paradise With An Ocean View. This doesn't surprise me but it is really way too bad. Few people I knew even when this album was new had a clue that it even existed but that doesn't make it any less great. It's not exactly rock and not exactly country and it sure isn't mainstream pop. Perhaps that's the problem, that it is very difficult to slap a lable on Joe McDonald (I drop the Country as it is misleading for those that don't know.) Yeah, like one of the other reviewers said this is a great piece of work to listen to with a beer (or a joint) in hand but you'll like it straight, as well. Just about all the songs are really good, a couple are great and as a whole it is a lot of fun to listen to; high, low or in-between.

Good Stuff!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Paradise With an Ocean View (Audio CD)
This is an excellent folk music/protest album. Country Joe seems a bit milder than his earlier years, but, he still makes a point. The music is solid and professional. Good background vocal and good use of strings on several tracks. The bottom line, for me, is that this cd is fun to listen to. "Save the Whales" is a classic, as are a few of the other tunes found here. Not a dud in the batch! Some of the young artists of today ought to tune in and learn something from this seasoned veteren who has had a career from the 60's through the 90's that has maintained quality and freshness.

The best ever,
By Peter Y (San Antonio, TX United States) - See all my reviews

Little known, but this is the best work CJMcD ever did... I used to listen to this back in 1977, back in High School (!), and it hasn't faded. In fact, I'm buying a new copy in case I should ever lose the other... have had 2 vinyl copies, and this'll be my second CD. It's great stuff, reggae-country-rockish...
