Convoluted,
This review is from: Paradise X - Volume 1 (v. 1) (Comic)
I gave Earth X 4 stars because I thought it was imaginative in its use of a vast swath of the Marvel universe. However, by the end of the series I felt that what made it initially exciting became cumbersome, convoluted, too repetitious and pretentious. There are good moments up to the end, but nothing worth the time and money needed to finish the saga. While I applaud the concept, writing this thing must have been very difficult. It was way too wordy.
I imagine the series if there had been a limit to the number of words per page, or even no words at all; that would have blown people away and created dialogue among readers. Instead, you put it down and have no questions, because everything had been repeatedly explained ad nauseum.

Old School Comic Book Reader,
This review is from: Paradise X - Volume 1 (v. 1) (Comic)
I enjoyed this book. As a reader of the stories from the 60's, 70's, and 80's I liked the explainations and story line. I stopped reading in the 90's and this is a fresh experience. I plan on reading the companion volume.

I liked this one way better than Universe X 1 and too. I was happy to see they finally change the narrative (at least in the first few chapters).
Each Earth X chapter begin with a prologe were Uatu and Machine Man talk about a current event and a specific character. After this they went for this character origin and then the chapter runs. The chapter ends with a epiloge about what just happen and maybe a bit of the next one. That was for every chapter, and I gotta say that it work for Earth X. Universe X 1 and 2 tried the same formula. This time the Prologe was going to be between Nighthawk (Kyle Richmond) and Gargoyle (Isaac Christians), except that they talk about not only 1 character but several groups, realms, tribes, etc. It all end up being confusing and tiresome. Paradise X Vol.1 was another story. I was SO happy to see the story just started from the begining. No prologe. This continued for several chapters and when they finally start with epiloges and prologes again it worth it. They talk only one character at a time. It was cooooool the Wolverine possible origin they put here. Good and interesting. I enjoy this one a whole lot!. I recomend it!.

When you do a job too well you can have a problem. The problem with the Celestial at the earth's core, and the reason so many heroes exist on earth has been revealed and put to rest, but this caused other problems.
Mar-Vell's revolution in Death's realm has unforeseen consequences, namely that terminal patients in agony, and others cannot die. |
