5.0 out of 5 stars Hell Yeah!
I saw Nocturne play live in Virginia Beach, and tho i wasn't a big follower of Bile or Pigface, Nocturne had me front row the entire show. No no no, it wasn't cause Lacey the lead singer was sexy as can be, although that part didnt hurt, but her words, and the way they were expressed thru the bands music was awesome, gripping and heavy heavy heavy. 2.0 out of 5 stars If Chris got a new vocalist, it wouldn't be half bad...
I just saw this band live the other night, with a very dismal audience of about 20 or so people. They toured the area last year with Ministry and were exposed to a crowd of about 1,000 yet only 20 people showed up to their headlining show. A bit of a let-down, don't ya think? I enjoyed the show, considering I knew almost everyone there and we just danced and enjoyed it...

No no no, it wasn't cause Lacey the lead singer was sexy as can be, although that part didnt hurt, but her words, and the way they were expressed thru the bands music was awesome, gripping and heavy heavy heavy. Its good to have another awesome female fronted band that can swing as well as any with veteran heavies such as Entombed, King Diamond, Bile and Pigface.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lacey and Crew We Love You!, December 9, 2003
This review is from: Paradise Wasted (Audio CD)
I met Lacey during a Clan Of Xymox show in Austin many years back. She was strikingly demure and friendly. After a few conversations she was obviously serious about her work and her stage presence was intoxicating. The whole show was provocative and intense. Ever since I've been a true fan, going to shows and helping promote. The band has opened for and toured with many of the greats including Ohgr, NIN, Thrill Kill Kult and Pigface! This release assured them a major seat in the underground music scene. Measure it by it's dark sexuality and the quiet brooding urge to break out of your freakin' skin! Dangerous, sinuous, and downright stunning! It's quite unfortunate that labels are placed on bands as it is an unworthy form of insulting. Nocturne in my opinion show true conviction in their craft and will continue to pride themselves in the music and the adoring fans that follow them forever. Nocturne.cc

I bought Nocturne's CDs when I saw their show in Fort Lauderdale. The band puts on a really great show, and all of their CDs, especially this one, are on my top ten list!

I just heard this cd last week when a friend let me borrow it. I really enjoyed it,and I was surprised that Nocturne is a Dallas band.I usually don't like female vocals but I found this chick to be amazing. The whole cd has an intriguing hard dark ambiance to it. I plan on buying all of the other Nocturne cds as well. Bottom Line---Listen to Nocturne---Their music speaks for itself and you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Money NOT wasted!!, December 10, 2003

This CD is one of my favorites! It's hard and heavy most of the time, but there are three instrumental tracks that are cool. Buy this! Buy this! Buy this! You won't be let down.

Paradise Wasted is a great disc. Big and rich and crunchy and thumpy and dark and well written. Creative and exciting and original. And Lacey's vocals are amazing. Plus it has cool sound effects. Nocturne is an awesome band and this disc is well worth checking out.

I can't stop listening to this cd. If you ever wanted to know what Marylyn Mason would sound like with a female singer , this is it .The Cd is riddled with great lyrics , some deep and political , some just dam right mean. The music is mostly heavy from begining to end ,with a great trippen instrumental. Bang your head or just get up and dance , buy this Cd . You wont be sorry . I cant wait to see them next tour .

4.0 out of 5 stars Nocturne - Paradise Wasted, April 22, 2008
This review is from: Paradise Wasted (Audio CD)
I was blown away with my first venture into Nocturne, I absolutely love this album! This CD was a staple in my DJ deck, tracks like "Happy", "My Bitch", and "Waiting for Anything" were always well recieved and usually followed up by people asking who it was by. The music is excellent with just the right amount of hard instruments and electronics, and Lacey had a way with words and carried a ferocity and tenderness in her voice at the same time. There are a couple instantly forgettable tracks on the disc, and in the end "Flirt (Parts 1 & 2)", closes out the disc with some dark ambience which may not appeal to everyone but I certainly enjoyed. This is my favorite release of theirs in their whole discography, everything is good, but this one just stood out the most. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Goth-Punk Classic--in a class of its own, April 13, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Paradise Wasted (Audio CD)
I have to admit that it took a while for this album to grow on me. I downloaded it on Ruckus and listened to it a couple times, and there were some moments that were so outrageously goth, that I couldn't take these guys seriously. Eventually it donned on me, that even these guys probably don't take what they're saying seriously, and that's what makes this album so beautiful. From start to finish, it counterbalances over-the-top dark themes with upbeat rhythms and melodies. "My Bitch" is such a great song, that I would put it beside NIN's "Closer." And that's not all! Songs like "Waiting for Anything" and "Digit" are so well done, that they definitely would have taken the pop charts by storm, if only they got some playing on the radio.

Basically, there are two sorts of negative reactions to this band that I've been noticing. 1 is that they're too goth, which admittedly turned me off at first before I got to know the music better. 2 is that they're not goth enough, i.e. their stuff is cliched and brings nothing new to the table. Really, what these guys are doing is taking up cliches of goth and just playing with them. They bring together goth and punk in a way that, as far as I know (and please tell me if there's anyone that does it better), is unparalleled.
